Carroll John Evers died unexpectedly at Mayo Clinic St. Marys Campus on January 10, 2024, in Rochester, Minn., at the age of 83.
Carroll was born on November 10, 1940 ,to John and Ethel (Lentz) Evers on their family farm and lived there all of his life. He attended St. Johns Lutheran Elementary School and graduated from Wykoff High School in 1959.
In 1959, he joined the Army and was stationed at Sandia Air Force Base in Albuquerque, N. Mex. On July 9, , he married Carolyn (Schulz) Evers. They were married for 63 wonderful years filled with Carroll’s favorite response of, “Yes, Dear!”
He enjoyed dancing and listening to old time polka music, watching the Molly B. Polka Show and in later years, square dancing. He enjoyed many bus trips across the United States and several fishing trips to Canada.
Carroll received his private pilot’s license in 1976. The longest flying trip he took was to Livingston, Mont. For many years, he was an avid no-till farmer and spokesman. He was also a Fillmore Township patrol operator. Carroll also spent many years selling starter fertilizer.
Carroll is survived by his wife Carolyn, son Carl (Judy) Evers, grandchildren Kelcey (Ilya) Leontovich and Eric Evers (Kayla Vandewalker), great-grandchildren Olivia and Luka Leontovich, and Emelia Evers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Carla Evers, five sisters: Lucy, Dorothy, Anita, Audrey and Phyllis; and three brothers: Donald, Darrell, and Victor.
As per Carroll’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. Burial will be at the Preston Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
