Head Coach: Shawn Bauer
Where We Left Off in 2023: The Warriors went 10-5 in the TRC, tying for second place with FC/L in the East. Caledonia then was then downed by 11-seeded Cotter 2-1 in a 1AA Round of 16 game. They finished at 12-7.
Seniors: Hunter Goetzinger (C), Owen Denstad (SS/P), Drew Yahnke (P/1B/OF), Michael Colleran (OF).
Juniors: Ben Stemper (CF/P), Garrett Konz (P/1B), Reid Klug (P/3B), Tanner Ginther (2B/P), Sean O’Heron (OF/IF), Spencer Schaffer (OF/C).
Outlook: Last year, a potential very strong season was reduced when ace pitcher Tristan Augedahl got hurt and did not pitch the last half of last season. Augedahl put up crazy numbers when active, earning All-TRC (23 IP, 4-0 record, 12 BB, 55 K, .609 ERA). Fellow seniors Ayden Goetzinger (3B/P > .375 average, 8 RBI, 8 R, 23 2/3 IP, 1.48 ERA) and Kyle Bechtel (SS > .349 average, 7 RBI, 15 R, 16 SB) also made All-TRC, Augedahl and Bechtel each for the second time. Caledonia’s sole returning All-TRC pick is Garrett Konz (team-best .448 average, 10 RBI, 14 R). Starters Hunter Goetzinger (.357 average, 12 RBI, 6 R), Ben Stemper (.298 average, 8 RBI, 10 R), and Owen Denstad are also back. Drew Yahnke (team-high 33 1/3 IP, 4-2 record, 11 BB, 37 K, 2.31 ERA) and Reid Klug (20 1/3 IP, 2.07 ERA) are a couple more key returnees. Konz (14 2/3 IP, 7 BB, 15 K, 2.39 ERA) also tossed 10-plus innings, giving the Warriors a tall staff of pitchers. All are 6’3” or better. The Warriors would like to keep their pitching like last year, where they allowed just 2.8 runs per game, but improve an offense that generated 4.4 runs per game.
