The Warrior boys welcome back 11 players with varsity experience, but that team went 1-15 (0-10 conference). The five graduates included oft-honored goalkeeper August Allen and all-conference Noah Stigeler. But all-conference midfielder junior Jacob Hernandez does return for a team that features five seniors – A.J. Marschall, Sean McCormick, Laurent Stigeler, Vincent Colsch and Troy Zibrowski. The varsity roster also features eight juniors, three sophomores and two freshmen. Numbers are strong with 15 additional players on the junior varsity roster. Jay Marschall remains the head coach, assisted again by former Warrior standout Andrew Marschall. Ten letter winners return for the Warrior girls from a team that went 3-12 (2-8 conference), including All-Conference goalkeeper Josie Foster. Back to lead the attack is Honorable Mention All-Conference Losiah Gay, last year’s assist leader. Four starters return to the midfield, including All-Conference HM sophomore Siri Konkel plus two-year starter and junior captain Addie Fruechte. Two defensive starters must be replaced. Other letter-winning veterans are Macy Kraus, Stephanie Ideker, Campbell Cognac, Lillian Thies, Annabelle Mulholland, and Sophie Blocker. It is a young squad with only four seniors and two juniors, but seven starters do come back. The reserves are also younger than in recent seasons. In his ninth year, head coach Chris Jandt said, “Last year, we took a step up in conference by winning both games against P-E-M and tying La Crescent-Hokah. We are hoping to keep games competitive in conference. Our program keeps growing as we have another year of growth in numbers at our lower grades. I’m looking forward to the development of those players this year at the junior varsity level.”
