Cal/SG gymnasts earn first wins over Kasson-Mantorville/Triton

March 1, 2021 by Lee Epps

The Caledonia/Spring Grove gymnasts (2-6) earned their first wins in at least four seasons (maybe five) with two victories over Kasson-Mantorville/Triton along with a loss to La Crescent-Hokah. The Lancers (126.8) dominated a Feb. 13 triangular with C/SG second (113.125) and host KM/T third (107.425). At home on Feb. 25, the Warriors achieved a season-best team total while outscoring KM/T, 114.775 to 101.475.

Speaking about the home dual, coach Savana Kettner said, “The girls put up their highest team score of the season even while missing some of our usual varsity routines. We were really proud of the girls that stepped up to fill our varsity spots on each event. We have been working hard on the details, and the results are showing that. We have two more conference meets then sectionals, so our goal is to continue to improve our team score as much as possible.”

At the triangular, freshman Braelyn Lange was fourth in all-around (30.55) with season-highs on vault (8.325) balance beam (7.8). Her fourth places on beam and vault were the two highest individual places. She was fifth on the floor and sixth on bars.

Seventh grader Macy Kraus was eighth in all-around (28.5) and junior Brianna Johnson ninth (27.15).

In the dual victory over KM/T, the Warriors had the highest team score at every station except vault, where both teams earned the highest scores. Lange had the best scores on both bars (7.250) and floor (8.200) and finished second in all-around with a season-best 31.075. Sophomore Cameryn Kruse was third all-around at 28.250 and freshman Sabrina Lisota fourth at 27.100. Johnson was not available to compete in this meet. Emma Klejeski of KM/T placed first in all-around with the top scores on beam and vault,
