Boys Basketball (12/20 – 12/23)

Lanesboro’s girls got 21 points from Kaci Ruen and two free throws from Malia Tessum late to beat L-A 68-67.  The Burros are 3-1, 7-3.  Caledonia wrestling beat Decorah 60-9 to improve to 6-0.  Junior Tucker Ginther recorded his 100th career win.  Cayden Tollefsrud had 25 points and Jordan Larson 22 as M-C scored a season-high in beating G-E 80-39.  The duo combined for nine threes and 13 steals.  Alex Arneson then had 24 (pts) and 14 (rebs) as M-C best Alden-Conger 63-47.  The Cougars (1-3, 3-4) have won three of four.  Drew Schinder scored 23 points and Isaac Stevens had 21 (pts) and 17 (rebs) as Chatfield’s boys (2-1, 2-1) beat D-E 66-53.  Justin Ruberg scored 25 points as R-P (1-1, 3-2) beat Schaeffer 66-30.  GM’s girls beat L/P 57-25.  Anika Reiland stuffed the stat (7 pts, 7 rebs, 7 asts, 10 stls) in a Kingsland win over L-O.  The Knights (5-0, 8-3) and Larks (4-1, 7-1) topped the SEC West.  Sydney Torgerson had 25 points in a Houston (3-2, 4-3) win over Schaeffer, 70-39.  Tayler Helgemoe hit six threes and scored 22 points as R-P (2-2, 4-4) beat Schaeffer 64-17.  R-P had four wins all of last year. 

Three Rivers Conference

Chatfield 66, Dover-Eyota 53 (C: D. Schindler 23 pts (9-16 FGs, 4-5 FTs), 5 rebs; I. Stevens 21 pts (9-16 FGs), 17 rebs; Cole Johnson 12 pts, 6 asts.  Gophers > 2-1, 2-1)

Southeast Conference

Mabel-Canton sophomore Cayden Tollefsrud takes the ball to the hole amidst the Cougars 80-39 win over Glenville-Emmons. Tollefsrud had 25 points to lead the way in the game. Two nights later, M-C bested Alden-Conger 63-47 behind Alex Arneson’s 24 points. M-C went 2-0 on the week to improve to 3-4 on the year.

Glenville-Emmons 39, Mabel-Canton 80 (M-C: C. Tollefsrud 25 pts (4-7 threes), 4 rebs, 4 asts, 8 stls; J. Larson 22 pts (5-9 threes), 5 rebs, 7 asts, 5 stls; Jaymeson Tollefsrud 10 pts, 9 rebs; James Arneson 8 pts, 7 rebs, 4 asts)

Houston 45, Schaeffer Academy 69 (H: Tanner Kubitz 17 pts, 11 rebs; Zach Olson 12 pts.  Hurricanes > 0-3, 0-5) 

Grand Meadow 41, Lyle/Pacelli 57 (GM: Roman Warmka 16 pts; Taylor Glynn 14 pts, 10 rebs.  LP: Buay Kuak 20 pts.  Larks got out-rebounded 52 to 25.  GM’s four-game win streak is snapped. GM > 2-2, 4-3.  L/P is 5-1)

Non-Conference

#3 in A Rushford-Peterson 66, Schaeffer Academy 30 (R-P: J. Ruberg 24 pts (11-16 FGs), 6 rebs; Malachi Bunke 16 pts (6-10 FGs), 4 rebs, 3 stls; Dawson Bunke 14 pts (3-8 threes).  Trojans shot 28 of 58 (48%))   

Mabel-Canton 63, Alden-Conger 47 (M-C: A. Arneson 24 pts (9-15 FGs, 6-10 FTs), 14 rebs, 3 asts, 3 stls; C. Tollefsrud 15 pts (5-7 FTs), 9 rebs, 6 asts; J. Larson 11 pts (3-8 threes), 7 rebs, 5 asts; J. Tollefsrud 10 pts, 5 rebs.  M-C > 1-3, 3-4)

Lanesboro 62, Wabasha-Kellogg 45 (L: John Prestemon 16 pts, 11 rebs, 4 asts; Hayden Lawstuen 14 pts (6-10 FGs), 5 rebs.  Ten Burros scored, as Lanesboro out-shot Falcons 46% (25 of 54) to 29% (17 of 58).  Lanesboro > 1-2, 3-3)
