Caledonia/Spring Grove junior sprinter Reid Bjerke won both speed events, the 100-meter dash and the 200M, at the quadrangular track meet at Dover-Eyota on March 13. Bjerke has improved his 100M and 200M times in each effort this season, clocked at 11.50 seconds at 100 meters and 23.15 in the 200. He and his 4×100-meter relay teammates – sophomores Hunter Holland and Eric Mauss plus junior Logan Banse – posted their best time of the season (46.02) while placing second in a close finish at D-E. In a field of 27 sprinters, Holland ran fourth (12.17) and Banse fifth (personal-record 12.19) at 100 meters. Holland ran 200 meters for the first time this season and finished third among 20 runners.
Banse, a rare sprinter/thrower, earned team points in four events – placing second among 21 competitors with the discus and third among 21 in shot put. Mitchell Reynolds has improved his distance in every long jump competition thus far, placing third at D-E at 18-feet, 7 inches. He had a fifth-place triple jump (37-05.50). Pieper, in addition to his high jump triumph, took fifth place in long jump.
Sophomore Lyle Myhre ran fifth at 400 meters and contributed to a third place 4×200-meter relay along with junior Eric Myhre plus sophomores Bronson Knutson and Caleb Conniff. Eighth grader Fischer Wait, who had won the 400M in the previous two meets, was out of action at D-E while resting a minor injury.
The Warrior girls, competing in five of the 18 events, earned most of their points in the sprints as well. Senior Eliza Welscher was third and freshman Logan Koepke fifth at 100 meters; Koepke took second place and Welscher third in the 200M dash. That pair was joined by sophomore Kloe Jore and freshman Emmie Kittleson while finishing fourth in the 4x00M relay. Stevie Bulman earned fifth-place points in the 400-meter run.
