All-TRC Boys Basketball
Caledonia’s boys (14-0, 29-4) ripped to the TRC-East and Section 1AA titles, topping 1A runner-up Rushford-Peterson (10-4, 24-5), La Crescent/Hokah (8-6, 13-15), Fillmore Central (6-7, 12-16), and Cotter/Hope Lutheran (6-8, 12-16) in the division. St. Charles (11-4, 20-7) and Lewiston-Altura (11-4, 19-9) shared the TRC-West over Chatfield (5-10, 11-16), PEM (5-10, 9-18), Wabasha-Kellogg (2-13, 6-21), and Dover-Eyota (2-13, 5-22). Four Warrior seniors earn All-TRC while two Trojans, two Falcons, and one Gopher are honored. Caledonia’s selections are their big four seniors Mason King (5’11” G), Garrett Konz (6’6” F), Reid Klug (6’6” F), and Ethan Stendel (6’4” F/C). King led the team in scoring at 18.2 per game. The senior sharpshooter topped 20 in a game 13 times, amassing 90-plus made threes. On 19 occasions, he drained three or more triples in a contest. King chipped in 3.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per while making 86% of his free throws. Klug was the Warriors second leading scorer at 16.5 PPG. He scored 20 or more in a game 12 times and was the only Warrior honored to the AA All-Tourney team at state. Klug added 6.9 RPG and 2.7 APG while shooting 57% from the field. Konz averaged 15.4 PPG, giving the Warriors three guys over 15 a game. He scored 20-plus seven times, chipping in 6.9 RPG while shooting 50% from the field. Stendel led the team in rebounding with 7.2 caroms per contest while also averaging 9.9 PPG. He shot 62% from the field. King, Klug, and Konz all three-peated as making All-TRC while Stendel repeated. King finished with 1,399 career points, fourth in Warrior boys’ history behind his cousins, brothers Noah (2,575), Owen (2,437), and Eli King (1,656). Klug (1,253) is seventh, Konz (1,132) ninth. They are the only trio in Warrior history to all top 1,000 career points from the same class. Said group led the Warriors to a dominating TRC and 1AA title run, a state appearance. On 18 occasions, three of the above hit double figures in the same game and on seven occasions all four did. Rushford-Peterson gets two pure All-TRC selections in Cayden Lea (5’11” So. PG) and Carson Johnson (6’1” So. F). Lea led the team in scoring at 17.2 PPG, up from 12.8 PPG last year when he made All-TRC HM. He also was second on the team with 3.7 APG while chipping in 3.6 RPG and a strong 2.7 SPG, hitting 95 threes at a 43% clip. Lea had 25 games of multiple made threes and he scored in double figures in every contest but three. The offense went through Johnson a lot, as he was R-P’s most versatile player, averaging a team third-best 12.3 PPG. Johnson led the Trojans with 4.7 RPG and 4.2 APG, adding 2.6 SPG. He shot 53% from the field. Making All-TRC HM for R-P is Will LaFleur (5’11” Jr. G > team second-best 12.7 PPG, 56 made threes, 40% clip, 2.6 SPG). Said guys helped the Trojans make the 1A finals and post a strong 24-5 season. Fillmore Central’s two selections are Greg Kennedy (6’6” Sr. F) and Bridon Bahl (6’1” So. G). Kennedy moved up after being named All-TRC HM last year. He led the Falcons in scoring with 13.7 PPG and rebounding an 8.8 per contest while adding three combined steals and blocks. He had 10 double-doubles on the year. Bahl averaged a team second-best 13.4 PPG while adding 4.5 RPG and 2.3 SPG. He hit a team-best 64 threes at a 36% clip. Making All-TRC HM for the Falcons is Josh Haugerud (6’0” Sr. G/F > 11.8 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 62 threes). Chatfield’s sole All-TRC selection iS Carson Harstad (6’3” So. G). He easily led the Gophers in scoring at 20.5 PPG, making 73 threes (32% clip). He had 12 games of scoring 20 or more, six games of scoring 30-plus (including a school-record 45 versus W-K). Harstad also led the team with 7.1 RPG and 2.4 SPG. He was All-TRC HM last year. Making All-TRC HM this year for the Gophers is Ross Stoehr (6’1” So. F > team second-bests 12.2 PPG and 5.8 RPG) and Masyn Kreter (6’2” Sr. F > 9.3 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 45% FGs). Other pure All-TRC picks from teams not covered by the Fillmore County Journal are Lewiston-Altura’s Zane Nelson (6’5” Sr.) and Tyson Prigge (5’11” Jr. G), La Crescent/Hokah’s Berkley Mlsna (5’10” Sr. G) and Ryan Nutter (6’3” Sr. F), St. Charles’ Connor Gransee (5’11” Sr. G) and Chris Hilton (6’3” Sr. F), Dover-Eyota’s Mat Matejka (6’3” So. G/F), Cotter/HL’s Mateo Lopez-Amor (6’3” Jr. F), and PEM’s Jack Schreiber (6’4” Jr. F/C).
All-TRC Girls Basketball
Caledonia’s girls dominated the TRC (14-0, 29-4), winning the East over Cotter/Hope Lutheran (11-3, 18-10), Rushford-Peterson (9-5, 17-10), Fillmore Central (6-8, 14-14), and La Crescent/Hokah (2-12, 3-24). In the West, Dover-Eyota (14-1, 22-8) won the division crown over PEM (10-5, 18-10), Chatfield (7-8, 12-15), Lewiston-Altura (5-10, 9-18), St. Charles (2-13, 4-23), and Wabasha-Kellogg (0-15, 3-22). The Warriors’ entire starting lineup, Aubrie Klug (5’10” Jr. G), Josie Foster (5’11” Sr. G/F), Nicole Banse (5’8” Jr. G), Sienna Augedahl (6’1” Sr. F), and Kensey King (6’0” Jr. F) makes All-TRC. Said girls helped Caledonia run the table in the TRC and take fifth at state. Foster earned All-TRC a third time and made Class AA All-State 1st team. She averaged a team second-best 15.8 PPG, scoring in double figures in every contest but one. Foster added a team second-best 6.6 RPG, a team-best 3.8 APG, and 4.1 combined blocks/steals while making around 70 threes and shooting 75% from the free throw line. She finishes her career with 1,498 career points, fourth in Warrior girls’ history behind Mariah Schroeder (1,761), Katie Tornstrom (1,746), and Sarah Schieber (1,719). Klug averaged a team-best 20.5 PPG, scoring in double figures in every game but two. For the season, she hit around 90 threes (34% clip) including three or more in a game 16 times while making 74% of her free throws. She was honored Class AA All-State honorable mention as well as making the All-Tourney team. Banse averaged 11.3 PPG while adding 4.1 RPG with 3-plus assists and 3-plus steals per. Klug and Banse each repeated as All-TRC. Augedahl (5.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG) and King (5.0 PPG, team-best 7.0 RPG) earned their first All-TRC nods. The duo’s combined length defensively, combined with Foster, Klug, and Banse, was imposing to Warrior opponents. Caledonia’s defense held TRC foes to just 32.8 PPG, holding league foes to under 40 points nine times. For the season, the Warriors gave up 39.7 PPG, which was the best in the section by 7.8 PPG. Rushford-Peterson’s two All-TRC picks are Nadia Happel (5’6” Jr. G) and Torryn Schneider (5’5” Jr. G). The fleet-of-foot Schneider led the team with 11.4 points, a strong 5.2 assists, and 3.7 steals per contest while chipping in 4.5 rebounds. She hit 61 of 92 free throws (both team highs). Happel averaged 11.2 PPG, 2.6 RPG, 2.6 APG, and 2.3 SPG. She hit a team-best 39 threes at a crazy 48% clip (39 of 82). Making All-TRC HM for the Trojans are Nevaeh Happel (5’10” Sr. F/G > 7.1 PPG, 4.6 RPG) and Kaia Loney (5’10” So. C > team second-best 11.3 PPG, team-best 5.9 RPG, 52% FGs). Said girls helped R-P to a section final four berth. Chatfield’s lone All-TRC selection in interior player Amaya Harmening (5’10” Jr. F). She scored a team second-best 11.0 PPG on 49% field goals while leading the squad with 8.9 RPG. Making All-TRC HM for the Gophers are Kendall Knutson (5’8” Sr. F > 10.5 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 2.1 APG), Grace Schroeder (5’8” Jr. G > team-best 12.0 PPG and 2.3 SPG), Lexi Kivimagi (5’7” So. G > 7.7 PPG, 3.1 RPG, team-best 3.4 APG), and Kylin Schroeder (5’10” Sr. F > 6.0 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 2.3 APG). Fillmore Central did not have any pure All-TRC picks. Sophia Bronner (6’0” Jr. F > team-best 8.2 PPG and 7.3 RPG) and Kyla Hellickson (5’9” Jr. G > team second-best 8.1 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 2.0 APG, 2.4 SPG) made All-TRC honorable mention. Making All-TRC from teams not covered by the Fillmore County Journal are Cotter H/L’s Clarissa Sauer (5’9’ Sr. G), Camrie Macal (5’10” Jr. F), and Katelyn Ubl (5’7” Sr. G), D-E’s Miranda Palmby (6’0” Sr. F), Madi Mullikin (5’11” Sr. F), Nora Pristash (5’9” Sr. G), and Isabel Duellman (5’8” Sr. G), PEM’s Alyvia Engler (5’5” Jr. G) and Macy Wozney (5’7” Sr. G) and L-A’s Maycie Mierau (5’3” So.
