In a high school softball game, seventeen runs are not unheard of, but it is a lot. Thirty-one runs in a high school baseball game are a category five deluge. Oddly enough, it was teams nicknamed Hurricanes scoring runs torrentially. In a home baseball/softball series with Schaeffer Academy, Houston baseball won 31-2 in five innings and softball 17-0 in four frames! On the baseball diamond, Houston had a 10-run first inning and a 15-run second inning! Morgan Rohweder, Zach Olson, and Tristan Stinson all had career days. Rohweder (3-4, 2B, 2 R) hit a home run and had 7 RBIs while also getting all six of his outs on the mound via strikeout (2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB). Olson was perfect at the plate (4-4, three 2B, 3B, 4 R) with all extra base hits and 5 RBIs. Stinson (3-4, 2B, 2 R) also drove in five runs. Nolan Nelson (2-3, 2B, 2 RBI, 3 R), Dawson Pedretti (2-3, 3 RBI, 3 R, 2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K), Alex Walters (2-4, RBI, 3 R), and Alex Vix (2-4, RBI, 2 R) also collected multiple hits. Logan Olson (1-2, RBI, 2 R) and Logan Kinstler (1-1, 2 RBI) helped while Rysen Gorman scored five times. Houston had 22 hits. They walked 13 times. It was the Hurricanes’ first win after they dropped their first two games. The ‘Canes week also included a win over G-E/AC and losses to GMLOK and Goodhue (See ‘“Southeast Conference” and “Non-Conference Baseball”). Meanwhile on the softball diamond, Houston had an eight-run first and a seven-run second. Seven ‘Canes had multiple hits; Kylie Stinson (3-4, 2 RBI, 2 R), Claire Frauenkron (2-3, 2B, 3 RBI, R), Julia Swenson (2-2, 2B, 2 RBI, 3 R), Emily Botcher (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI), Rylee Boldt (2-2, RBI, 2 R), Emmie Melbo (2-2, RBI, 2 R), and Ellasyn Carrier (2-3, 2 RBI, 2 R). Botcher collected the pitching win (4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K) to improve to 3-1. Houston also beat GMLOK and G-E/AC while losing to Hayfield (See “Southeast Conference” and “Non-Conference Softball”).
