When was the last time Fillmore Central/Lanesboro baseball was state ranked? It has been a while (if ever). The 2023 Falcons continued their strong season with three more TRC wins, running their win streak to four. At PEM, FC/L had a four run sixth to annul a 1-0 deficit. The frame propelled the Falcons to a 4-1 victory over the AA Bulldogs. Cooper Ferrie (7 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, Win, 1-3, RBI) gave up just one run in grabbing the complete game win, stranding 10 runners on base. Dillon O’Connor (1-2, RBI, R), Peyton Olson (1-3, RBI, R), and Bryce Corson (1-3, R) provided the best offense. Josh Jones’ Falcons then easily handled Lewiston-Altura in a doubleheader, 14-4 and 13-3 (both in five innings). Gunner Benson (3-3, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R), Jacob Mandelko (3-4, 3B, 3 RBI, 2 R), and Stephan Schultz (3-4, 2 RBI, 2 R) had a big game one. Corson (2-4, 2B, RBI, 3 R), Levi Rogers (2-4, 2 R), Olson (1-4, 2B, 2 RBI, R), Ty Sexton (2-4, two SB, 2 RBI, R), and O’Connor (4 2/3 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, Win) helped. Game two saw the Falcons notch just six hits, but they walked eight times. Olson (3-4, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R) was the top hitter. Benson (4 2/3 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 10 K) collected the win. Schultz (1-2, 2 RBI, R), Reid Olson (1-1, RBI, R), O’Connor 0-2, 3 RBI, R), and Corson (0-1, 3 R) helped. FC/L (7-1, 10-1) is ranked #4 in Class A. They lead the TRC-East (www.mnbaseball.hub) over La Crescent/Hokah (8-2, 9-4) and Caledonia (7-3, 9-4).
