Baseball (4/11 – 4/14)

Rushford-Peterson’s Justin Ruberg gets caught in the rundown and tagged out by Fillmore Central/Lanesboro’s Cooper Ferrie in the teams’ TRC baseball game. Despite amassing just three hits, the Trojans capitalized on 14 Falcon walks and posted a 7-5 win.

Three Rivers Conference

Chatfield 13, St. Charles 1 [6] (C: Caden Nolte 3-4, two 2Bs, 2 RBI, 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8 K, Win; Luke Carrier 2-4, 2B, R; Ryan Nosbisch 2-3, 2B, RBI, R; Jack Dornack 1-1, 2B, RBI, 3 R; Carter Daniels 2-4, 3B, 2 RBI, 2 R; Jackson Schild 2-3, 2 RBI, 2 R. Saints committed seven errors and were held to two total hits. Gophers > 1-0, 1-0)

Caledonia 0, La Crescent/Hokah 4 (C: Tristan Augedhal 5 1/3 IP, 1 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 12 K, Loss; Hunter Goetzinger 1-2. Game was tied 0-0 heading to bottom of sixth where Lancers scored four runs. Teams combined for just five hits. Warriors struck out 13 times and walked four times. LCH struck out 12 times and walked three times)

Rushford-Peterson 7, Fillmore Central/Lanesboro 5 (R-P: Malachi Bunke 1-3, 2 R, 3 1/3 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K; Alex Ronnenberg 3 2/3 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 9 K, Win; Jonah Bunke 0-1, 3 BBs, 2 R; Riley Tesch 1-3, R. FCL: Bryce Corson 2-3, 2 RBI, R; Cooper Ferrie 2-4, R; Ty Sexton 1-3, RBI; Gunner Benson 1-4, 2B, RBI; Garrett Gossman 1-3, R; Stephan Schultz 3 2/3 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, No Decision. Trojans had three hits, were walked 14 times. R-P led 3-0 after 1 1⁄2 only for Falcons to tie it with a 3-run second. Trojans went ahead for good with a 2-run fourth and led 7-4 heading to 7th. FCL > 0-1, 0-1)

Caledonia’s Kyle Bechtel digs for third hoping to get there ahead of the tag of Rushford-Peterson’s Andrew Wilkemeyer. The Trojans got the out at the hot corner, completing a double-play actually. But Caledonia got the 12-3 win, riding a six-run third inning in TRC baseball action.

Warriors broke open a 2-2 game with a 6-run top of third. They entered the contest having been shut out in back-to-back games to start season. Cal > 1-1, 1-2. R-P > 1-1, 1-1)

 Southeast Conference

#9 in A Lyle/Pacelli 6, Spring Grove 7 (SG: C. Griffin 4 IP, 1 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 7 BB, 10 K, 0-3, 2 RBI, R; Logan Brumm 1-2, 2B, RBI, R; Brandon Jahnke 2-3, RBI, R; E. Solum 1-3, RBI, R; Ezra Griffin 1-3, 2B, RBI; B. Udstuen 1 2/3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, Win. L/P scored six runs on just one hit, a 3-run home run by Hunter VaDeer in the third inning. They led 5-0 after three and 6-3 after five. Udstuen pitched SG out of a bases loaded one-out jam in the sixth. SG then scored four times in the bottom of the sixth, all without a hit. The bases were filled via walks and two Lion runners scored on errors. A wild-pitch tied the game at 6-6. A Solum RBI-ground-out scored the go-ahead run C-Griffin. SG prevailed despite walking 13 batters. They out-hit L/P 6 to 1)

Houston 15, Schaeffer Academy 1 (H: Maddox Rodriguez 2-3, RBI, 2 R; Morgan Rohweder 2-4, 3 R; Austin Swenson 2-5, 3 R; Alex Walters 1-2, RBI, R; Arik Melbo 0-1, 3 R, RBI, 4 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, Win; Connor Porter 0-4, 2 RBI, R. Pitchers Melbo, Swenson, and Rodriguez combined to no-hit Lions. Hurricanes > 1-0, 1-1)

FCL: Ellie Anderson 2-3, R; Regan Hanson 1-3, 2B. Trojans used a five-run fourth to blow open a 1-0 lead. It is R-Ps second win. They had one all last season. FCL > 0-1, 0-1)
