The 2022 state Class A golf meet at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker featured two “Journal 11” teams, Fillmore Central’s girls and Rushford-Peterson’s boys. Rushford-Peterson baseball (5-seed, 10-11-1) took the field on Memorial Day having already made the Section 1A final six. The Trojans took on United South Central (6-seed, 10-7). Chatfield baseball dug itself a bit of a hole in losing to Plainview-Elgin-Millville in the 1AA-East semis. The Gophers followed that loss with back-to-back wins. While the girls 1A golf meet was a runaway for Fillmore Central, the boys meet was contested at the top. After Day 1, Hayfield (345) led R-P (359), Lanesboro (368), and FC (368). Improved Falcons Grab 1A Girls Golf Title, Schnebly Qualifies
The section only has three complete teams. Fillmore Central’s girls, the seven-time defending 1A golf champions, were the heavy favorites. A “heavy” amount of strokes is what Aaron Mensink’s Falcons won by to claim their 8th straight title. FC led Hayfield by 30 after an 18-hole Day One (373 to 403).
