Boys Basketball: Burros Run Win Streak to Five

Lanesboro boys basketball ran off a three-win week. The Burros jumped out 21-6 on Rushford-Peterson and led the duration. The closest R-P got from there was 24-19. Lanesboro got the 63-43 win. Wrestling: Warriors Grapple Through Gauntlet

Caledonia/Houston wrestling took to the mats on back-to-back-to-back days for seven dual meets in less than 72 hours. Shay Mahoney’s #7 in Class A Warriors showed their toughness going 7-0. Caledonia/Houston (1-0, 12-4) wrestling took on the The Clash XX in La Crosse, a huge and high-end wrestling dual meet tourney with 32 teams from across eight states. Lanesboro boys basketball mini-trekked, schedule-wise, through a pair of SEC-East foes, posting two wins. A week opening game versus Mabel-Canton saw the Burros (2-2, 3-3) scoring power exceed the Cougars (3-1, 4-2). Mason Howard hit four first half threes to help stoke a 33-16 Burro halftime edge. Girls Basketball: Hurricanes Whirl Through Burros

The last five SEC-East girls basketball titles have been won by either Houston or Lanesboro. The Burros ended the Hurricanes’ four-year run last year, as the teams finished first and second in the division. Caledonia girls continued their strong season with a couple section 1AA wins. In a matchup of TRC divisions leaders, the Warriors (4-0, 7-2), the East leader, had little trouble in dispatching with Chatfield (4-0, 8-3), the West leader. It was a good week for Spring Grove b-ball teams. Each won both of their games.  Boys Upend State-Ranked Loyola The Spring Grove boys (3-0, 5-1) defeated Class A #9 Mankato Loyola, 61-54, at Byron for the Southern Minnesota Hoops Fest, sponsored by Breakdown.
