Fillmore Central was 1A runner-up. Grand Meadow and LeRoy-Ostrander shared the SEC-West. Spring Grove did not win anything per se, but went 22-7. Rushford-Peterson and Lanesboro both also … [Read more...]
Football: Late Interception Helps Seal Knights’ Date to Prep Bowl
Kingsland senior defensive back Ayden Howard intercepted Fertile-Beltrami quarterback Caiden Swenby with under two minutes to go in the fourth quarter, helping put one nail in the Falcons’ coffin. “It all happened so fast, I didn’t have time to think about it,” said Howard in the post-game press conference. Sophomore QB Kaaleem Reiland then powered his way for four yards on 4th … [Read more...]
All-TRC Cross Country
All-Conference in cross country is determined by the TRC Meet, which occurred on October 17. All the All-TRC kids were noted in the October 30 Fillmore County Journal Sports, but a few things could have elaborated on. Volleyball: Cougars Second Straight State Run Ends in Fourth Place Finish
After taking third place at state last year, including rallying from down 2-1 for a 3-2 win in their last match, Mabel-Canton’s 2023 experience was just a tad below their 2022 trip. Instead of rallying from down 2-1 for a 3-2 in the third-place match, they almost rallied from down 2-1 for a 3-2 win in the third-place match. They fell narrowly and were disappointed. But it … [Read more...]

After it was all completed, the top four teams in state in Class AA volleyball were Pequot Lakes, Rush City, Southwest Christian and Caledonia. Each took home a trophy. It sometimes does not quite add … [Read more...]
Football: Falcons Fall to Springfield 22-12 in State Quarters
A year ago, on the same field in Jordan, Fillmore Central snuck by Lester Prairie 18-16 in the state quarterfinals to make the state semis and a game at U.S. Bank Stadium. The same site at this year’s 1A state quarterfinal versus #7 Springfield (Section 3A Champ, 10-1) was not so kind to the #2 Falcons (Section 1A Champ, 11-0). The beginning of FC’s fate being doomed could be … [Read more...]
