Track and field conglomerates LFCMC and GMLOKS are both in line to have big years. Each pulled boy/girl team sweeps in two different meets the week of Monday, April 18.
LFCMC Track Teams
Win at Lake City
LFCMC wasn’t originally scheduled to be in it, and the meet got rescheduled. But once they arrived in Lake City, the kids on team Fal-Bur-Coug left their mark. At the Tigers seven-team track and field meet, which also included Rushford-Peterson/Houston, both the LFCMC boys and girls won team titles. Alex Aiken’s boys (154) bested nearest foes Pine Island (144.5) and RPH (102). Lori Anderson’s girls (155.7) were better than nearest foes Pine Island (121) and Lake City (107.7). The Tro-Cane girls took fifth (of seven total teams). On the guys side, LFCMC won eight of 18 events. Senior J.T. Rein swept the hurdle events. Rein (16.46) beat teammate Will Harvey (16.99) in the 110-hurdles. RPH’s Aaron Prinsen took third. Rein (43.55) beat Prinsen (44.28) in the 300-meter event. Jacob Peterson and Seth Semmen swept first in the throw events. Peterson (40’8”) topped RPH’s Jackson Bergan (37’8”) in the Shot Put. Semmen (136’6”) beat Bergan (126’) while Peterson took third in the Discus. Jayce Kiehne won the 1,600-meters (4:35.56) over Lake City’s Reese Anderson (4:39.98). RPH’s Tyler Rislov took third and LFCMC’s Carson Ruen fourth. Chase Christianson won the High Jump (5’6”) over Pine Island’s Gabe Northrup (5’6”), getting the height on his first try to Northrup’s second. Finally, two relays took first. The 4×100 (Parker Storhoff, Rein, Henry Liew, Semmen) bested nearest foe Kenyon-Wanamingo/Goodhue 46.27 to 49.54. The 4×400 (Kyle Daniels, Carson Ruen, Christianson, Kiehne) bested nearest foe Pine Island 3:45.45 to 3:48.17. Taking second (and not already mentioned) were Issac Snyder (800) and the 4×200 (Christianson, Luke Ruen, Sam Springer, Carter Clarke). Henry Liew (Long Jump) added a third place. Christianson (Triple Jump) added a fourth place. Rislov and Prinsen had RPH’s two first place finishes. Rislov (2:10.67) beat LFCMC’s Isaac Snyder (2:14.39) to win the 800. Prinsen (12’) easily won the Pole Vault over Pine Island’s Sam Knox (10’). Dalton Hoel had a third (400) and a fourth place (Long Jump) finish. Gregg Gile took third (Triple Jump) to round out RPH’s top exploits. On the girls side, two LFCMC relay teams took first. The 4×200 (Jersey Ristau, Kammry Broadwater, Macayla Brogle, Brielle Ruen) beat nearest foe Z-M 1:52.55 to 1:56.52. The 4×800 (Brooklyn Simon, Morgan Pickett, Katie Pickett, Lillyan Kiehne) bested nearest foe Lake City 10:31.84 to 10:41.72. B-Ruen (27.20) also won the 200 over Lake City’s Natalie Bremer (27.59) with RPH’s Brielle Rasmussen taking third. Rasmussen (13:59) took second to Bremer (13:51) in the 100 with LFCMC’s Lauren Brogle taking third. Lillyan Kiehne (13:07.98) won the 3,200 over Pine Island’s Alivia Levi (13:45.91). Ava Jacobsen (4’8”) won the High Jump over Z-M’s Maddie Seymour (4’8”), getting the height on her first try versus second. Kyla Hellickson took fourth. Madison Simon (8’6”) won the Pole Vault over teammate Addie Miner (8’). Finishing second for LFCMC were Broadwater (Discus), Lynsey Ruen (300-hurdles), and the 4×400 (Ristau, M-Pickett, M-Brogle, B-Ruen). B-Ruen (Long Jump), L-Ruen (100-hurdles), and Broadwater (Triple Jump) added third place finishes. Sahara Morken (3rd 1,600, 5th 800) and M-Brogle (4th 200, 4th Long Jump) had two individual top five finishes. K-Pickett (800) added a fourth. Seniors B-Ruen (1st 4×200, 1st 200, 2nd 4×400, 3rd L-Jump) and Macayla Brogle (1st 4×200, 2nd 4×400, 4th 200, 4th Long Jump) thus had four top three finishes. Ashtyn Meyer (Shot Put) had RPH’s sole girls first place, as she (27’7 ½”) bested nearest foe Brooke Tracy (26’11”) of Lake City. It was RPH’s first meet of the year. FCLMC has had multiple indoor meets.
GMLOKS Teams Win at Elgin
While LFCMC teams won at Lake City on Monday, GMLOKS’ team trekked to Elgin on Thursday and won team titles. Aaron Thauwald’s girls (201.5) bested nearest foe Plainview-Elgin-Millville (159.66) while Rebecca Young’s boys (165) narrowly nipped the Bulldogs (162) and St. Charles (157). Eight teams competed including Caledonia/Spring Grove. The Warriors boys took fourth. Sprinters stood out for GMLOKS, as team Bulldog swept top billing in the 100 and 200 boys and girls races. Anika Reiland’s standout performance highlighted the gals action. GMLOKS won seven of 18 events. Reiland beat (12.83) nearest foe, teammate Chantle Reiland (13.14) in the 100-meters, and then again (26:16 to 26:72) in the 200-meters. A-Reiland (16’1”) also won the Long Jump over St. Charles’ Abbie Disbrow (14’11”). C-Reiland took third and Katelyn Hauser fourth. The Reilands (Anika, Chantle) were also part of the first place 4×200 with Anna Oehlke and Grace Soltau, which bested (1:49.84) St. Charles (1:54.56). It gave A-Reiland four first place finishes. Hauser (17.85) won the 100-hurdles over PEM’s Allie Sveen (18.09). Emma Lewison took third at both the 100 and 300-hurdles. Becca Hoffman (105’7”) beat nearest foe Lauren Rott of PEM (98’11”) to win the Discus. Hoffman took second to Rott in the Shot Put. The girls 4×800 (Shelby Beck, Lauren Queensland, Kendyl Queensland, McKenna Hendrickson) also took first (10:37.26), besting nearest foe Cotter (10:52.30). L-Queensland added a second place (400) and a third place (High Jump). Breeley Galle had a second (Triple Jump) and a fourth (300-hurdles). The girls 4×100 (Soltau, Kailyn Schneider, Lydia Redman, Oehlke) took second to Cotter. McKenna Hendrickson (1,600) added a third-place finish. Nevaeh Shaw took third (High Jump). On the guys side, GMLOKS also claimed seven of 18 firsts. James Howard (11.69) bested nearest for Fischer Wait of Caledonia/SG (11.93) to win the 100-meters. Howard (23.23) also bested Wait (24:06) to take the 200-meters. Howard added a fourth-place finish (High Jump). Ayden Howard (18:58) and Zach Reiland (19:13) went 1-2 in the 110-meter hurdles. Z-Reiland also took second at the 300-hurdles. Garrison Hubka (4:47.08) beat St. Charles’ Andrew O’Hara (4:51.12) to win the 1,600. Riley Paul (47’5”) bested teammate Lucca Sween (40’4”) to win the Shot Put while Cal/SG’s Garrett Ness took third. Paul also took second in the Discus, Cal/SG’s Chris Pieper took third, and Sween fourth. Two guys relays won races. The boys 4×200 (Howard, Cam Ruechel, Odear Granle, Kaaleem Reiland) bested St. Charles for first, 1:36.61 to 1:38.13. The 4×800 (Hubka, Andrew Imm, Carter Glynn, Tate Georgen) took first over PEM, 8:51.49 to 9:05.45. Imm added a second (800). Georgen (3,200) added a third. Granle (400) and Glynn (800) added fourth place finishes. The boys 4×400 (Hubka, A-Howard, Z-Reiland, K-Reiland) took second to PEM. Caledonia/Spring Grove had an individual and a relay first. Chris Pieper (6’4”) won the High Jump over PEM’s Kaiden Peters (6’2”). The C/SG boys 4×100 (Reid Bjerke, Hunter Holland, Eric Mauss, Josh Beardmore) bested St. Charles, 45.84 to 47.32.
