Arlene Mae Bestor

November 25, 2024 by Fillmore County Journal

Arlene Bestor obituary, Fillmore county Journal

Arlene Mae Bestor passed away November 9, 2024.  She was born December 13, 1928, to August and Mable (Boland) Vreeman.  She was reared in farm life with her parents and sister Dorothy.  She had many fond childhood memories, from milking cows with her long polished nails, throwing a stone at a bull causing him eye damage, to tying the legs of her pants to prevent mice from crawling up her legs while doing chores.

When the love of her life, Arlynn Bestor, returned home from the navy after WWII, they were married.  They lived and attended church in Greenleafton.  Arlynn worked for his dad at Bestor’s Garage.  In 1949 they moved to Spring Valley.

At Evangelical United Brethren Church, Arlene sang in the church choir, taught and was superintendent of Sunday School, taught Bible School and directed Christmas programs.  Her family was proud of Arlene when she obtained her GED from Spring Valley High.  She worked many jobs including Land O’Lakes Dairy and Kuehn Motors until she retired.

Arlene is survived by her daughters Bonnie Jean Christianson and DarLynn Venne, granddaughter Lynn Gray (David), grandsons Michael Venne (Michelle), Matthew Venne, and Mason Venne; and great-grandson Noah Gray.

She leaves behind sister and brothers-in-law Shirley Fingerson, Dianne Nagel (George), and Charlotte Goldsmith (Goldie) and Vreeman family cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy, husband Arlynn, son Danny and sons-in-law Vince Venne and Paul Christianson.

Funeral to be held at Faith United Methodist Church on December 3, at 1 p.m. with fellowship luncheon to follow.

In lieu of gifts or flowers, donations should be given to Faith United Methodist Church.
