Anthony Smith obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Anthony “Tony” Wayne Smith passed away September 17, 2025, at his home in Spring Grove, Minn. Tony was born November 6, 1958, to Genevieve (Doely) and H.B. Smith

in Oceanside, Calif. He graduated high school from Spring Grove in 1976. He studied electronics at Winona Vo Tech. He worked for Rockwell Collins at various locations for several years, and Sodko, before settling down in Cresco, Iowa, and working at Featherlite.

He had a great love for taking pictures, his beloved dog Molly, golfing, bowling, Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Vikings, The Grateful Dead, and a good cold Budweiser.

Tony is survived by his daughter Tiffany Murphy and her children Sean and Mahraz, along with nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends, and loved ones who always knew him as “Uncle Tony.”

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael. 

Per Tony’s wishes there will be no funeral. A celebration of Tony’s life will be held at the Spring Grove Legion on October 5 from 2-4 p.m.

    Tony and I were golf buddies for more than 40 years. I have many great memories with him. RIP buddy.

    So sorry for your loss! I Had a brief dating period with Tony! Went to Prom on May 9 1979 ! It was also my birthday that day! He was always a gentleman!
