September 26, 2022 by Paul Trende

Lanesboro’s’ Luke Ruen looks to haul in a pass as LeRoy-Ostrander’s Logan Diemer defends in the teams’ South-East match-up. The #2-ranked Burros downed L-O 58-26 to avenge a loss in last year’s Section 1 9-Man title game. Lanesboro, ranked #2, is 3-0.

Coming of a huge week two win over Rushford-Peterson, state-ranked Fillmore Central (#7 in Class A) had no problem dispatching with Hayfield at home. The Falcons scored on seven of 10 drives without punting once. Junior Chase Christianson began the game by returning the opening kick-off 83-yards to paydirt. Senior Bryce Corson had three first half TDs, runs of 5 and 12 yards, a 9-yard TD reception from Dillon O’Connor. FC led 21-7 after one quarter, as the Vikings scored off of one of two FC turnovers. By halftime, the score was 36-7. Chris Mensink’s Falcons cruised to a 50-7 win. Corson (5-40, 2 TDs rushing, 5-82, TD receiving) led the way going over 100 yards total offense. It was his second straight three-TD game. O’Connor (10 of 14, 172 yards, 2 TDs, INT passing) also hit Jayce Kiehne (4-81, TD receiving) for a 23-yard score in the third. Kyle Daniels (5-42, TD rushing) had FC’s second TD of the game. Anthony Kiehne added FC’s final score, a 3-yard TD run in the fourth. Six different FC running backs had at least 16 yards rushing, led by Daniels and Corson. Gunner Benson notched his third sack of the season while posting a team-high eight total tackles. The Falcons improved to 2-0, 3-0. They are the only Mid-Southeast Blue team at 3-0 overall. Second place Faribault B.A. is 2-0, 2-1. Hayfield is 0-3.
