The 2025 season starts with both district and section changes. The 9-Man South-East sub-district remains largely unchang-ed with LeRoy-Ostrander/Lyle-Pacelli, Grand Meadow, Mabel-Canton, Kings-land, Houston, Spring Grove, Lanesboro, and Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons staying. However, Wabasha-Kellogg drops down from 11-man and swaps in for Southland, which moves up to 11-man. The 8-team Section is all the above minus A-C/G-E (which is in Section 3). In Class AA, Rushford-Peterson is one notable newcomer, joining Caledonia, Chatfield, Dover-Eyota, Rochester-Lourdes (another newcomer), St. Charles, and Triton in the Southeast Central “Yellow” sub-district. Said teams also comprise Section 1AA. Seeing the biggest change is Fillmore Central, which is now in the Mid-South “Green” sub-district alongside Hayfield, Lewiston-Altura, NRHEG, Southland, and United South Central. Gone are former rivals R-P and Goodhue (both to AA). Said six teams also comprise Section 1A for playoffs.

Fillmore Central enters the season having been to four straight 1A title games, posting a 41-6 record in that span. Chris Mensink’s Falcons made state runs in 2022 and 2023. Last year, they went 7-1 in Mid-Southeast-Blue action, winning the sub-district over Lewiston-Altura, their third straight title. The Falcons ascended to the 1A title game but fell to Goodhue 52-7 to finish as 1A runner-up with a 9-2 record. FC had eight All-District kids last year and six were seniors. Said group was the sub-district MVP Greg Kennedy (6’6” 190 WR/CB > 46-1,002, 13 TDs receiving; four interceptions including three pick-sixes; four return TDs; 21 total TDs), the sub-district Lineman of the Year and four-year starter Atlee Hershberger (5’10” 205 OL/LB), and the sub-district Defensive Player of the Year Joey Ristau (6’4” 195 T/DE > seven sacks, 11 TFLs) plus Josh Haugerud (6’0” 165 WR/LB), Anthony Kiehne (5’9” 155 RB/DB), and Tyler Gulbranson (6’7” 285 OL/DL). All told, 12 seniors graduated. Their two most notable, All-District, returnees are quarterback Bridon Bahl (6’0” 185 Jr. QB/S) and Kane Larson (6’1” 190 Sr. RB/LB). Bahl comes off a massive sophomore campaign (2,117 yards, 25 TDs, 8 INTs passing; three rushing TDs) in earning sub-district Offensive Player of the Year. Larson was a strong two-way player, leading the team in rushing (740 yards, 15 TDs, 210 yards receiving) and tackles (75). After those two, Brody Niemeyer (6’1” 250 OL/DE Sr.), Ryan Schroeder (5’11” 255 Jr. OL/DL), and Joseph Otto (6’3” 270 Jr. OL/DL) are three key returnees up front. Davis Penhollow (5’11” 155 Sr. WR/DB > 11-209, 3 TDs receiving), Cody Serfling (5’11” Sr. 180 RB/LB > 16-160, TD rushing; 67 tackles), and Quinci Kaase (6’0” 175 Jr. RB/LB) are a trio of ball-handlers who played last year. Graduation took a bit of a toll and the Falcons have just four seniors this year (listed above), but a 17-man junior class. FC will put some miles on, playing at JWP (week one), BP (week three), USC (week four), and NRHEG (week six). They host Southland (week two), Hayfield (week five), L-A (week seven) and, St. Clair/Mankato-Loyola (week eight).

Chatfield enters the season having made state three of the past four years. Jeff Johnson’s teams have gone a 43-6 over that span playing eight state playoff games. A season ago, the Gophers won the Southeast-White (6-0), won Section 1AA, and were undefeated (11-0) before finally falling to Staples-Motley 36-24 in the state semifinals. Chatfield finished 11-1, their fourth one loss season in the past five years (including the short COVID year). They graduated another strong (17-man) senior class headed by All-District picks, the sub-district Player of the Year and team leading rusher Ben Carrier (5’11” 180 RB/LB > 1,456 yards, 17 TDs rushing, 21 total TDs; 54 tackles), the sub-district Co-Offensive Player of the Year Carson Rowland (5’10” 160 QB/S > 1,105 yards, 14 TDs, 6 INTs passing; 873 yards, 16 TDs rushing), and the Co-Linemen of the Year Ethan Cole (6’3” 250 OL/DL) and Jake Stevens (6’5” 270 OL/DL), who are both on college rosters, plus Westin Nolte (5’11” 200 OL/LB > 49 total tackles). A lot graduated, but the Gophers will look to rally behind returning A-D selections Mitchel Hinckley (6’0” 200 Sr. OL/DL > 46 total tackles) and Kaisen Johnson (5’9” 150 Sr. WR/S > 17-320, 6 TDs receiving), last year’s top receiver (receptions/TDs), plus returning A-D HM pick Jackson Bernard (6’1” 215 Sr. OL/DL). A hard-running D’Andre Williams (6’0” 195 Sr. RB/DL > 65-511, 7 TDs rushing) is the team’s top returning rusher. Keyan Danninger (6’2” 170 Sr. WR/CB), Sam Carrier (5’10” 160 Jr. WR/CB), Owen Collett (6’1” 190 Sr. TE/LB), Carter Ask (6’2” 185 Jr. QB/S), Hunter Polikowsky (5’7” 165 So. RB/LB), Ezra Schild (5’11 160 Jr. RB/S), Sean Kirchner (6’1” 195 Jr. OL/LB/P), Ross Stoehr (5’10” 160 Jr. TE/LB/K), and Logan Pearson (5’7” 140 So. WR//S) are other notable guys expected to fill rolls. Ask is the only returning QB to attempt a varsity pass last year. The above six plus Gavin Palus (5’8” 175 RB/DL), Cian Palus-Manning (5’9” 270 OL/DL), Caden Voeltz (5’10” 245 OL/DL), Will Boelter (6’5” 225 OL/DL), and Colin Jech (6’0” 190 OL/DL) give Chatfield 11 seniors. Against a rugged Southeast Central “Yellow” schedule, Chatfield hosts Lourdes and then D-E weeks one and two, then R-P and St. Charles in weeks five and six. They play Cannon Falls and Triton on the road weeks three and four, Caledonia and Pine Island away weeks seven and eight.

After years of struggles, Kingsland football has re-emerged as of late behind Head Coach Matt Kolling. Last year, the Knights were again a South-East and 9-Man Section 1 contender. A year after making state, Kingsland went 5-2 in the South-East, taking third behind co-champions L-O/L/P and Spring Grove. The Knights knocked off the Lions in the playoff semifinals on an overtime field goal before falling to the Cardinals 38-27 in the section final. Team double-K finished at 8-3 as 9-Man Section 1 runner-up. The Knights had four All-District picks and two A-D HM players last year. All six were seniors. Sub-district Defensive Player of the Year, Nine-Man All-State pick, and three time All-South-East honoree Parker Johnson (6’1” 210 TE/DE > 95 total tackles, 18 sacks; 9 offensive TDs; 45 1/2 career sacks), top rusher Zach Reiland (6’0” 175 RB/LB > 1,357 yards, 16 TDs rushing, 20 total TDs), Caden Reiter (6’0” 160 WR/DB > nine all-purpose TDs), and Seth Howard (6’1” 200 OL/DL > team-high 113 total tackles) were the pure A-D selections. Like the other top teams in the sub-district, the Knights will retool this year. They do have maybe the South-East’s most explosive and experience quarterback in Kaaleem Reiland (5’8” 195 Sr. QB/CB > 43-79, 620 yards, 9 TDs, 5 INTs passing; 101-914 yards, 14 TDs rushing). All-District in 2023 and a Minnesota-Duluth signee, he enters his third year starting behind center having helmed the Knights to state in 2023. Reiland is by far (101 carries) their most experienced ball carrier. Bently Wiersma (5’10” 180 Jr. RB/LB > 56 tackles), Michael Johnson (5’10” 180 WR/CB), Nathaniel Drees (6’0” 160 Jr. WB/CB), KD Reiland (5’8” 185 Jr. TE/LB > 53 tackles), and Trent Aarsvold (5’7” 140 So. RB/S) are five notable returning ball-handlers. Wiersma and KD Reiland are the most key returning defensive assets. Kaaleem Reiland, Johnson, and Carter Strobel (5’8” 190 C/LB) are the team’s three seniors. They have 19 combined sophomore and juniors. The Knights open at Faribault B.A. while also playing at A-C/G-E (week three), W-K (week six), and Mabel-Canton (week seven). They host GM (week two), L-0/L/P and Spring Grove (weeks four and five), and Lanesboro (week eight).

LeRoy-Ostrander/Lyle/Pacelli enters the season coming off its second state (and U.S. Bank stadium) trip in four years. Trevor Carrier’s Cardinals went 7-0 in the South-East to share the sub-district title with Spring Grove. L-O/L/P then topped Kingsland to win the 9-Man Section 1 title. They made the state semis before falling to Fertile-Beltrami 60-33. The Cardinals finished the year 12-1. Like the other top three teams in the South-East, graduation hit hard. L-O/L/P had five All-District picks and all graduated. The biggest departure was Camden Hungerholt (6’1” 190 QB/DB), the sub-district Back of the Year, Mr. Football award winner, and All-State pick who signed to play college football at MSU-Mankato. On top of last year’s massive season (2,846 yards, 36 TDs rushing; 2,421 yards, 34 TDs, 4 INTs passing), Hungerholt finished with 147 total career touchdowns, likely the second most in state history. Nine-Man All-State pick Carter Sweeney (6’1” 185 WR/DE > 50-861, 13 TDs receiving), 9-Man All-State HM selection Ryder Stern (6’1” 200 TE/DE > 6 TDs receiving, team-high 139 total tackles, 12 sacks), Tyson Stevens (5’11” 165 RB/LB > 11 offensive TDs; 112 total tackles), and Dylan Christianson (6’2” 230 OL/DL > 100 total tackles, 13 ½ sacks) also moved on amidst an eight-man senior class. Logan Diemer (6’0” 200 Sr. TE/DE > 15-225, 3 TDs receiving; 60 total tackles) and Talan Lewison (6’0” 155 Sr. WR/DB > 67 total tackles) are L-O/L/P’s returning A-D HM picks. Carson Roe (5’10” 185 Sr. RB/LB > 45-309 yards, 5 TDs rushing; 89 total tackles, 7 sacks) is the team’s top returning rusher and key defensive player. Reid Hungerholt (6’2” 165 Jr. WB/DB > 20-521 yards, 5 TD receiving; six interceptions) is the top returning ball catcher. Third-year line starter Spencer Goodale (6’0” 250 Sr. OL/DL > 66 total tackles) is a fifth big returning asset. A replacement for Camden H. will need to be found. Reid H. and Hunter Wollenburg (6’3” 190 WR/DE) took snaps under center some last year. The above four plus Tyler Farlinger (6’4” 285 OL/DL), Joseph Schulte (6’1” 185 OL/DL), Jayden Smith (5’7” 150 WR/LB), and Des Little (5’10” 215 OL/DL) give the Cardinals an 8-man returning senior group. L-O/L/P opens at Spring Grove in a match-up of last year’s Co-South-East champions. The Cards are also at Kingsland (week four), M-C (week five), and A-C/G-E (week seven). They host W-K and GM weeks two and three, Lanesboro and Houston weeks six and eight.

Caledonia enters the season having made three straight section title games. A year after winning 1AA in 2023, the Warriors went 5-2 in the Southeast-White and 7-3 overall last year. They fell to Chatfield 24-14 in the 1AA title game to finish at section runner-up. The three losses were by a combined 18 points to state qualifying teams Triton and the Gophers. Carl Freuchte’s Warriors had six All-District picks and all were seniors. Included was starting QB/LB and Minnesota commit Ethan Stendel (6’4” 215 > 1,246 yards, 11 TDs, 5 INTs passing; 601 yards, 7 TDs rushing), leading rusher Ben Stemper (6’0” 175 RB/LB > 669 yards, 7 TDs rushing), leading tackler Tanner Ginther (5’8” 175 OL/DL > 74 tackles), main return guy Fischer Wait (5’9” 155 WR/DB), and key two-way line players Eric Welscher (OL/DL) and J.T. Hammell (OL/DL). All told, 13 seniors moved on. The only returning honored player from a year ago is All-Distrct HM guy Will Allen (6’1” 180 Sr. QB/WR/LB > 33 total tackles; 23-263, 4 TDs receiving), the top returning receiver and last year’s back-up QB. The top returning rusher is Noah Schroeder (6’1” 180 Sr. RB/DL > 87-439 yards, 6 TDs rushing). Hunter Frank (Sr. RB/LB) and Jack Schmitz (Sr. RB/DB) also saw double-digit carries. Cooper Allen (So. OL/DL) is maybe the team’s top returning line guy (51 total tackles, 4 sacks) alongside Max Schmitz (So. OL/DL > 39 total tackles, 4 sacks). The Warriors will retool with several new faces. Schroeder, W-Allen, J-Schmitz, Frank, Caden Hauser (WR/DL), Zeke Gengler (WR/DB), Aiden Burns (RB/LB), Devon Schulte (OL/DL), Karsen Klug (OL/DL), Maddox Walk (TE/DE), and Anthony VonArx (OL/DL) are the team’s 11 seniors. Caledonia will start the year playing Rushford-Peterson (away) for the first time in a decade-plus (2014) while also going to D-E (week four), Randolph (week six), and La Crescent/Hokah (week eight). They host St. Charles and Triton weeks two and three, Lourdes and rival Chatfield weeks five and seven.

Spring Grove, state-ranked No. 6 and co-champions of South-East, went 9-0 before falling in overtime, 17-14, in a rematch with Kingsland in the section semis. Those Lions (9-1) earned a winning record for the 14th time in the last 15 years, including the last three seasons. With a perfect 7-0 sub-district record, Kody Moore’s gridders shared the league championship, their second regular-season title in the last three years. Graduation claimed the quarterback, top seven receivers, top two kick returners, three of the top four rushers, the punter, place kicker, long snapper, six of the top 10 tacklers and all five all-district players: District Lineman of the Year Shawn Crouch (6’5” 305), Brandon Jahnke (6’0” 200 TE/DL), Zach Brumm (6’3”180 WR/LB > 24-508, 3 TD receiving, 1151 all-purpose running), Ben Udstuen (6’6” 190 WR/DB/P > 24-554, 4 TD receiving) and Bryce Berns (6”0” 175 QB/DB 1,156 yards, 18 TDs rushing; 1,280 yards, 13 TDs passing) plus honorable mention Troy Reinhardt (6’1“ 160 WR/DB). About half of the letter winners (11 of 21) are back, including A-D HM senior lineman Tysen Moen (6’2” 305) who will be joined in the interior by promising seniors: three-year letter winner Noah Heppner (6’3” 225), Cashton Newgaard (6’3” 230), Devon Williams (6’3” 225) and Christian Bjerke (6’3” 195) along with juniors Travis Fisch (6’2” 200) and Gunnar Torgerson (6’2” 270). Heppner was last year’s sack leader (5.5) and shared with Williams the lead in tackles-for-loss (11.5). At tight end, both are also reception threats for new varsity starting QB Dylan Halverson (6’0” 150 Jr.). Wide receivers include punter/kicker Ricardo Reynolds (6’2” 235 Sr. WR/RB/LB/P), Dash Ranzenberger (5’10” 195 Sr. WR/RB/LB > 7 TD rushing, 61 tackles) and Caden Gerard (6’0” 185 Jr. WR/DB). Reynolds, Ranzenberger and three-year letter winner Jacob Solum (5’9” 175 Sr. RB/LB) will take handoffs as well. Cornerback candidates are Halverson, Sam Klug (5’11” 155 Jr. WR/DB), Ezra Konkel (5’8” 145 So. RB/WR/DB) and Gabe Van Minsel (6’1” 160 Jr. WR/DB). With eight seniors, the Lions open at home versus L-O/L/P and Bethlehem Academy (weeks one and two) before hosting Mabel-Canton (week six) and A-C/G-E (week eight). They travel to Houston, Wabasha-Kellogg and Kingsland (weeks three through five) and bus to Lanesboro (week six).

Rushford-Peterson begins the year with their second new coach in as many seasons. Robbie Strand takes over after Joel Hinke commanded the Trojans last year. Strand comes from AA powerhouse Barnesville, which recently did battle with Chatfield in the state playoffs in the 2022 (semifinals) and 2023 (finals). His dad Bryan is still coaches there and his grandfather Dick is in the Minnesota Football Coaches Hall of Fame, having helmed Southland from the 70’s until the early 00’s. The Trojans went 3-5 in the Mid-Southeast-Blue and lost a second-round playoff game to section champ Goodhue 32-14. R-P finished at 4-6 with three losses by three or less points. The Trojans had four All-District picks a year ago with only one, leading rusher and three-time selection Jonah Bunke (5’7” 189 RB/LB > 862 yards, 10 TDs rushing, 12 total TDs) graduating. He was one of nine seniors to move on. Of the Trojans’ seven total honored players, five return. Jaxson Meldahl (5’8” 185 Sr. RB/LB > 21-300, 2 TDs receiving, 5 total TDs), a two-time A-D pick, Chace Drazkowski (6’1” 215 Jr. OL/DL), and Carson Johnson (6’0” 165 Jr. QB/WR/LB > six total TDs; four interceptions) are their three returning pure A-D picks while Zach Baker (6’1” 200 Sr. TE/DE) and Cole Thompson (5’10” Jr. 175 TE/LB) were A-D honorable mention. Also back are quarterback Cayden Lea (6’0” 175 Jr. QB/S > 640 yards, 9 TDs, 9 INTs passing), ball handlers Caden Mattson (5’8” 175 Sr. LB/LB), Owen Lange (5’6” 145 Jr. RB/LB), Creighton Hoiness (6’0” 165 Jr. RB/S), and Landon Dahl (6’0” 175 Sr. RB/DB), defensive back Will LaFleur (6’0” 145 Sr. RB/DB) plus lineman Holden Lee (5’9” 165 Jr. OL/LB), Matthew Peterson (6’0” 190 Sr. OL/DL), Lucas Redalen (6’1” 190 Jr. OL/DE), Gabe Cummer (6’1” 235 Sr. OL/DL), Brode Vickerman (6’6” 225 Jr. OL/DL), and Jeremiah Kuss (6’3” 275 So. OL/DL). Noah Anderson (6’5” 205 TE/DE) joins the above seven to give R-P eight seniors. R-P returns probably the most experience of the 11 Journal-covered squads including its starting offensive line. The Trojans were probably poised to be a force in Class A, but then they moved to Class AA, where they join a stacked Mid-South-Green sub-district and Section 1AA. R-P opens by hosting Caledonia in a rivalry that dates to the old TRC and Southern Football Alliance, last battle 2014. Randolph (week four), D-E (week seven), and Kenyon-Wanamingo (week eight) also will travel to Ben Niggle Field. R-P is at Triton and St. Charles weeks two and three, Chatfield and Lourdes weeks five and six.

Mabel-Canton begins the year looking to improve upon last season. The Cougars started 3-1 but ultimately went 3-5 in the South-East and 3-6 overall. Paul Tollefsrud’s group fell to Kingsland 43-0 in the first round of the playoffs. M-C had a trio of All-District players and two return. The graduation (among just three seniors) was four-time A-D pick Tyler Larson (6’0” 190 RB/LB > 454 yards, 4 TDs rushing, 5 total TDs). The returnees are the backfield combo of Kale Tollefsrud (5’8” 160 Sr. RB/DB > 929 yards, 5 TD rushing; 403 yards, 3 TDs receiving), the squads leading rusher and receiver last year, and quarterback Isaac Underbakke (6’2” 170 Sr. QB/DB > 744 yards, 8 TDs, 3 INTs passing; 263 yards, 5 rushing TDs; 55 total tackles). M-C also brings back its two A-D HM picks in linemen Darian Hershberger (6’0” 185 Sr. OL/LB > 12-146, 2 TDs receiving) and Milton Hutchinson (5’9” 190 Sr. OL/DL > 43 total tackles). All four were two-way players, and comprised four of the top five tacklers. Kenny Hutchinson (OL/DL) is a fourth senior starter returning. Kale Eiken (Jr. RB/LB) and Breyvn Tollefsrud (So. OL/LB) each are back after starting as underclassmen. Mason Yoder (RB/DB), Nate Nordsving (OL/DL), and Michael Keim (OL/DL) join the above five to give M-C an eight-man senior class. All the returnees and seniors should give the Cougars high optimism for improvement in a league where all the top teams graduated a ton. The Cougars open at Grand Meadow while also going to Faribault B.A. (week four), Spring Grove (week six), and W-K (week eight). They host Houston and Lanesboro weeks two and three, L-O/L/P week five, and Kingsland week seven.

Houston bookended a strong mid-season run (4-1 record weeks three thru seven) with two losses to start and finish the year last season. Cody Hungerholt’s Hurricanes went 3-4 in the South-East. They then fell to Southland 27-14 in the first round of the 9-Man Section 1 playoffs and finished 4-5 overall. Team Cane graduated a nine-man senior class that included repeat All-District picks Maddex Rodriguez (5’9” 165 RB/LB > 1,227 yards, 12 TDs rushing; 243 yards, TD receiving), the team’s top rusher, and Aden Kulas (6’0” 190 OL/DL > 57 total tackles, 6 sacks), plus A-D HM pick and multi-year starting quarterback Morgan Rohweder (6’3” 175 > 928 yards, 5 TDs passing; 6 rushing TDs). Returning A-D selections, multi-year starter Axel Vix (5’10” 215 TE/LB/DL > 56 tackles, 20- 390 yards, 3 TDs receiving) and Logan Kinstler (6’1” 185 OL/DL), are two notable guys who head this year’s returning cast. Lee Klunder (5’10” 160 Jr. RB/LB > 115-674 yards, 13 TD rushing; 64 total tackles) is their top back after making A-D honorable mention last season. Grayden Beckman (TE/RB/LB > team-high 66 total tackles) and Nolan Nelson (Sr. OL/DL) also return to join Vix and Kinstler for a four-man senior class. Elliot Frauenkron (Jr. TE/LB/DL > 50 tackles) is a fifth notable returnee. Chamberlain Bergesen (So. QB/DB) is the only returning player listed as QB last year. After the four seniors, Houston has seven juniors and eight sophomores. The ‘Canes start the year at Lanesboro and then Mabel-Canton, while also going to W-K (week five) and L-O/L/P (week eight). They host Spring Grove and A-C/G-E weeks three and four, Grand Meadow and Faribault B.A. weeks six and seven.

Grand Meadow went 1-6 in the South-East and 1-8 overall last year. The Superlarks fell 52-6 in the first round of the Section 1 9-Man playoffs to Spring Grove. Coach Josh Bain had just one All-District pick in Nathan Fretty (5’11” 165 RB/DL > 67 tackles) and two A-D HM picks, all of whom graduated amidst a nine-man senior class. Team purple did not have a player top 350 yards passing, rushing, or receiving in 2024. Blake Hubbard (5’11” 155 Jr. RB/DB > 65-304, TD rushing; 40 tackles), Brady Hrykas (5’10” 170 Sr. RB/LB > 11-214, 4 TDs rushing), and Parker Armagost (5’11” 145 Jr. RB/LB > 37-155 rushing) are a trio of returning ball carriers. Logan Grafe (6’5” 215 Jr. TE/DE > 46 tackles), Ayden Stier (5’10 205 Sr. G/LB), Graham Eastlee (6’2” 225 TE/DE), and Marshall Bleifus (5’9” 260 OL/DL) are four more key returnees. GM has five QBs on their roster including Jackson Soltau (5’9” 145 Jr. DB), who took some snaps their last year, and seniors Sawyer Hanenberger (6’1” 160 DB) and Carter Glynn (6’3” 185 DB), a good athlete who comes over from cross country. Keaton Gehling (6’2” 185 RB/DB), Joseph Gruhlke (6’0” 160 WR/DB), Kyler Kelly (5’9” 160 RB/LB), and Teagan Buck (6’1” 210 C/DT) join the mentioned four to make up an eight-man senior class. The Larks also have 10 juniors. GM will look for improvement starting by hosting Mabel-Canton. Lanesboro (week four), W-K (week seven), and Faribault B.A. (week eight) also come to town. The Larks are at Kingsland and L-O/L/P weeks two and three, at A-C/G-E and Houston weeks five and six.

Lanesboro, with just four seniors, went 0-7 in the South-East and 0-9 overall last year. James Semmen’s Burros fell to L-O/L/P 70-14 in the opening round of the Section 1 9-Man playoffs. The Burros handed the ball often to lead running back Cole Sass (5’11” 180 RB/DL), and he made All-District as a result, the only Burro to do so. The only returning post-season honoree is starting QB Mason Gilbertson (5’10” 165 Sr. QB/S), who made A-D HM. But a ton of young Burros got experience last year including fellow returning seniors Reid Olson (WR/CB), David Harvey (RB/LB), Boone Moen (WR/LB), Jack Lawston (TE/DE), Jarek Schultz (C/DT) plus Mathias Young (OG/DT), who comes over from PEM. The Burros thus have seven in the 12th grade class. Juniors Cooper Hovland (TE/LB), James Cullen (OG/DT), Carson Nagel (C/DE), and Liam Miller (WR/DE) also saw action, as did now sophomores Preston Clarke (WR/CB), Henry Semmen (TE/DE), and Quadyn Kettner (WR/CB). With 13 combined juniors and seniors, Lanesboro should be more competitive this season. The Burros open the year hosting Houston (for ‘The Bell’) and then get A-C/G-E week two at home while also hosting Faribault B.A. (week five) and Spring Grove (week seven). They are at M-C and GM weeks three and four, L-O/L/P week six, and Kingsland week eight.
