
Caledonia/Houston wrestling took to the mats on back-to-back-to-back days for seven dual meets in less than 72 hours. Shay Mahoney’s #7 in Class A Warriors showed their toughness going 7-0. At Waukon’s “tri,” Cal/Hou beat New Hampton/Turkey Valley 55-9 and the host Indians 56-16. Versus NH/TV, Braxton Lange (120), Max Schmitz (132), Owen Denstad (138), Tucker Ginther (145), and Grant Ness (285) had pins. Eric Mauss (182) won by forfeit. Simon Seymour (160) won a 10-1 major decision. Aiden Burns (106 > 4-2), Hunter Frank (113 > 8-5), Tanner Ginther (126 > 6-3), Cory Scanlan (152 > 6-0), and Bronson Knutson (170 > 10-8 in SV-1) won decisions. The Warriors’ three losses were all by decision. Versus Waukon, Denstad (138), Tuck. Ginther (145), Scanlan (152), Seymour (160), Ayden Goetzinger (195), and Brody Thesing (285) won by fall. Frank (113 > 15-3), Knutson (170 > 8-0), and Mauss (182 > 12-4) won majors. Burns (106 > 5-2) and Lange (126 > 8-2) won decisions. The Warriors then beat LARP 45-31 and PEM 55-18 and the Bulldogs “tri.” Versus the Screamin’ Eagles, the Warriors didn’t take lead for good until a win at 152 made it 21-19. Warrior pins at 182, 195, and 220 clinched the match. Lange (120), Scanlan (152), Seymour (160), Mauss (182), Goetzinger (195), and Tyler Jennings (220) had pins. Denstad (138) won by forfeit. Tan. Christian Zibrowski (106) beat Burns by 6-1 decision. Versus the Bulldogs, Lange (120), Denstad (138), Scanlan (152), Seymour (160), and Jennings (220) won by fall. But they won six of the last seven. Eric Mauss’ forfeit win (195) gave them their first lead, 31-28. The Warriors prevailed 43-28. Scanlan (152) won a 11-1 major. Lange (126 > 7-6), Seymour (160 > 3-1), Mauss (195 > 5-1), and Goetzinger (220 > 5-1) wrestled out decision wins. Mauss procured a tech fall to clinch the dual. The final was 39-21 in a match-up with seven decisions. For Cal/Hou, Lange (120), Cooper Allen (132), and Thesing (285) had pins. Denstad (138) won a 13-5 major. Decision-wise, Frank beat Kaisen Johnson 6-5 (113), Isaac Blocker beat Jack Dornack 8-2 (152), Seymour beat Thad Evans 5-2 (160), and Aden Kulas went over D’Andre Williams 2-0 (182). Chatfield got pins from Javier Berg (106) and Kail Schott (195). Gopher decision wins were Gage Bartels over Tan. Ginther 5-1 (126), Carson Rowland over Scanlan 3-1 (145), and Nathan Allen over Francis 10-3 (170). The Warriors improved to 3-0, 19-4 overall. They’ve won 10 in a row.
