Pine Island Girls Tourney (All five “Journal-11” wrestling programs had competitors. GMLOS’ top finishers were Chloe Hubbard (90 > 12-5), who took first (won two falls), and #3 Diann Smith (136A > 19-2), who took second (won three falls including over St. Michael/Albertville’s #8 Avery Herron, lost fall to Apple Valley’s #2 Cassy Gonzales). Chatfield’s top finisher was #2 Chloe Berg (124A > 15-5), who took third (won two falls, lost 7-1 decision to Aitkin’s #4 Madelyn Strohmayer, won 7-5 in SV-1 over Northfield’s #8 Lainey Houts). Brynn Horsman (118A > 13-7) took 9th but went 3-1 (lost 13-7 in SV-1, won three falls). Eastview Tourney (FCLMC (66) took 8th of 14 full with Wayzata (191.5) winning the team title. Cole Sass (10-3) won 172-pounds via four pins. His last three foes had a combined 89-22 record. Kane Larson (160) took second, winning an 11-4 major and a 6-4 decision over Coon Rapids’ #9 in AAA Carter Skradski (26-8) to make the finals, falling by 17-2 tech fall to Wayzata’s #1 in AAA Charles Petit (25-6). It was Larson’s first loss (22-1). The sophomore won his 100th career match as a sophomore)
