Why should I have someone deliver salt for my water softener?

October 12, 2026 by Fillmore County Journal Leave a Comment

I hear this question a lot. Most people assume salt delivery is simply about not having to pick up and carry those heavy bags of salt. While that’s definitely a nice benefit, I think the real value goes beyond convenience.

Whenever we deliver salt, we also take a few minutes to check over your water softener. We’ll make sure the clock is set correctly, look for any leaks, confirm the system isn’t in bypass, inspect the drain line, and check for salt bridges that can keep the softener from working properly. If you’d like, we can even do a quick hardness test to make sure your system is producing soft water like it should.

These quick checkups often catch small issues before they become bigger, more expensive problems. We’d much rather help you fix something minor during a routine delivery than have you wake up one day wondering why your water suddenly isn’t soft anymore.

Salt delivery isn’t just about dropping off bags of salt. It’s about helping you get the most out of your water softener and giving you confidence that your system is working the way it should. A few extra minutes during each visit can make a big difference.
