Wayne “Butch” Johnson
Wayne “Butch” Johnson, age 64 of Spring Grove passed away on April 9, 2024, at Gundersen Tweeten Care Center in Spring Grove.
Butch was born on October 11, 1959, to Eugene and Ione (Omodt) Johnson in Austin, Mn.
He lived in Black Hammer, Minn., since 1988 with his wife Sandra Kay (Diggins). They lived in Bemidji, Minn., for three years.
Butch graduated from Austin High School and went to a trade school in Bemidji for taxidermy. He worked at Gander Mountain in Bemidji and La Crosse, Wis., as a fishing supervisor. Butch also worked at Reds Hometown Market in Spring Grove, Minn. Butch loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a great taxidermist. Butch will be missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his siblings Joel (Evelyn) Johnson of Spring Grove, Linda Koski of Waltham, Minn., and Dennis Johnson of Mabel, Minn.; nieces and nephews Brent Johnson of Rushford, Minn., Amy (Jeff) Lewison of Cannon Falls, Minn., Laura Johnson of Spring Grove, and Dustin (Charissa) Koski of Zumbro Falls, Minn., Weston (Crystal) Koski of Hayfield, Minn., Leslee (Tyler) Swenson of Owatonna, Minn., Wendy Johnson of Owatonna, Minn., and Jason (Heidi) Johnson of Rochester, Minn.; great-nieces and nephews Brock (Hannah) Johnson, Bode, Briggs and Banek Johnson, Brooke Johnson, Amos and Tildey Johnson, Lakin Koski, Kennedy (Nathan) Lillestol, Croix and Lux, Kaden Koski, Ethan, Halle Koski, Jaida, Kaia, Hadlee Swenson, Evan Hall, Freyja, Alyssa Hall, Jordan (Brian) Reb, Cole Reb, Molly Johnson; his uncle Norman (Anita) Omodt, and many cousins.
Butch was preceded in death by his wife Sandy on November 10, 2015, his parents Eugene and Ione (Omodt) Johnson and his brother Gary Johnson.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Gundersen Tweeten Care Center, for the wonderful care given Butch during his stay there, and to Pastor Liptack for his many prayers and visits.
Memorial services for Butch will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church in Black Hammer, rural Spring Grove. Pastor Leonard Liptack will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 5-7 p.m. at the church, and one hour prior to services on Saturday.
