Warriors VB Posts Impressive Non-Conference Wins

October 11, 2021 by Fillmore County Journal

Fillmore County Journal - High School Volleyball

The latter portion of their TRC schedule is going to have Caledonia volleyball facing some big matches.  But it is safe to say “they are back” after last season’s disappointing campaign.  Scott Koepke’s group had just two matches on tap for the week of Monday, September 27, both of the non-conference variety.  They might have posted their best two wins of the season so far.  They took out Decorah on Thursday in four sets (25-14, 20-25, 25-23, 25-22).  Logan Koepke was the top attacker (22 kills, 11-11 serving, 2 aces), but good serving (84 of 90) helped spur team Cal to victory.  Brianna Stemper (7 kills, 21-22, 4 aces), Jovial King (22 assists), Grace Myhre (4 kills, 3 ½ blks), Sadie Treptow (4 kills), Paige Klug (4 kills), and Emma Rommes (8 assists, 19-19 serving) also aided the effort.

Decorah ended the week with a 22-5 record.  The #8 in AA Warriors then swept #6 in AAA Byron 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 27-25).  Koepke (12 kills, 13 digs), Myhre (5 kills, 7 total blks), King (12 assists), Alexis Schroeder (10 digs), Rommes (9 assists), Klug (5 kills), and Treptow (5 total blks) led the effort.   The Bears ended the week 15-4.   The key wins leave the Warriors at 5-0 in the TRC, 14-4 overall.  They and FC (7-0, 13-10) are unbeaten in the TRC, leading the conference just ahead of Chatfield (6-1, 16-6).
