Warriors’ Beardmore, Grinde win multiple track and field events

Josh Beardmore won three events; Tysen Grinde took two and placed second in another event one inch behind Beardmore. The Caledonia/Spring Grove boys finished second behind host Chatfield at a May 18 quadrangular track meet that also include Kasson-Mantorville and St. Charles. The Warrior girls finished fourth.

While Beardmore and Grinde placed one-two in long jump, Jordan Tornstrom and Mason Banse were one-two among 27 discus throwers. Grinde won high jump with Ethan Stendel tied for second. Cal/SG also had the top two 4×200-meter relay teams.

The Warriors had three of the top four long jumpers with Hunter Holland taking fourth place. the Warriors had three of the top five 200-meter sprinters with Beardmore first, Gabe Curley fourth and Eric Mauss fifth.

Beardmore won the 100-meter dash (10.98 seconds), the 200M dash (23.12) and long jump (20 feet, 7 inches). Grinde won the triple jump (30-04.5) for the fourth time in six meets and won his fifth straight high jump competition with a personal-best height of 6 feet, 4 inches. Grinde was second in long jump with another personal-record – 20-feet, 6 inches – and one inch short of Beardmore.

Three leading relay runners did not compete in this meet, but the Warriors won the 4×200-meter relay with legs run by Mauss, Lyle Myhre, Hunter Holland and Jason Schock.  Taking secod in the same race were Mason Foellmi, Tristan Meyer, Sylas Flatin and Owen Klug.

The boys took third place in both the 4x100M relay (JT Hammel, Tristan Meyer, Owen Klug, Ethan Stendel) and the 4x400M relay (Mauss, Myhre, Meyer, Grinde).

The top five places in each event earned team points. Ethan Crouch was fifth among 27 throwers in shot put. Riley Peters was fourth in the 400-meter dash, and Schock ran fifth at 100 meters.

For the Warrior girls, Nicole Banse was runner-up in the 200M dash along with a third-place long jump. Charlese Walk was third among 22 sprinters in the 100M dash while Sienna Augedahl ran third at 400 meters.

The girls finished second in the 4x100M relay and third in the 4x200M event. Walk, Banse and Ayshia Gay ran on both teams, joined by Kloe Jore in the 4×100 and by Augedahl in the longer race.

TEAMS GIRLS: St. Charles 107.50, Kasson-Mantorville 87.50, Chatfield 29, Cal/SG 19.

TEAMS BOYS: Chatfield 88, Cal/SG 71.50, Kasson-Mantorville 60.50, St. Charles 24
