Kendal VanMinsel recorded her 1,000th career set assist as Spring Grove rolled to three wins and a purely pool-play tourney at Waukon. Joelle Halverson led with 13 kills. Jordis Neeley was the leading scorer with 9 kills and 5 ace serves plus a team-best 10 digs. In addition to 33 assists, 3 kills, 9 digs, VanMinsel served 6 aces. The Lions did not play well in the first set versus Riceville, trailing 16-20 (21 points win) before sweeping the final six points to win 22-20. Momentum carried into set two with a 21-12 Lion victory. The day ended with VanMinsel’s 1000th assist during a 2-0 (21-13, 21-18) win over Turkey Valley. For the day, VanMinsel logged 53 assists while Neeley attacked with 25 kills (11 errors), Normann 10 kills (1 error), and Halverson 10 kills (4 errors). Sydney Holland defended with 27 digs.
