Virginia McConnell

Virginia McConnell passed away Monday, July 9, 2018, in Minneapolis.

Virginia Faye (Stroud) McConnell was born in Spring Grove, Minn., to Donald and Nellie Stroud on April 23, 1936, graduated from Mabel High School in 1954, and married Robert McConnell on May 11, 1959. Virginia was a homemaker, and involved in St. Olaf Catholic Church Women’s Guild and Altar Society. She also participated in Bible study, discussion group, writing class and other activities at Ebenezer Tower, where she lived.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband Robert, grandson Bryan McConnell, her parents and a sister.

She is survived by her children: Coleen McConnell, Jeff (Michelle) McConnell, Julie (Patrick) Furnstahl, and Jennifer McConnell; eight grandchildren: Mychal, Vanessa, and Christian Crowder; Kelsey and Madison McConnell; Joseph, Abbey and Olivia Furnstahl; and three great-grandchildren; Brooklyn Mathis, and Christian and Cassius Crowder. She is also survived by siblings Dale (Mary) Stroud, Shirley Larson, and Barbara (Gordon) McCann.

A memorial service will be held  2 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Ebenezer Tower Apartments, 2523 Portland Avenue S., Minneapolis, Minn.

The interment service will be held  1 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018,  at the Mabel Public Cemetery in Mabel, Minn., followed by a reception  at the St. Olaf Catholic Church.

The family appreciates all expressions of sympathy and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
