Vehicle vs. Amish Buggy Crash

On Saturday, April 12 at 7:38 a.m., Fillmore County Dispatch received a 911 call of a traffic accident involving a motor vehicle and an amish buggy on County Road 8, north of the intersection of 250th street. Upon investigation by Fillmore County deputies, it was determined that a horse-drawn flat bed Amish buggy was traveling southbound on county road 8 when it was struck by a southbound 2010 Ford pickup driven by 63-year-old Daniel Sheldon of Stewartville. The lone occupant of the buggy was a 26-year old-female who suffered non life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Mayo Clinic emergency department by the Spring Valley area ambulance. The horse was killed in the crash. Sheldon was cited for duty to drive with due care.
