Tyler Heibel obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Tyler John Barrett Heibel, age 42, of Fountain, Minn., passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Tyler was born November 4, 1983, to John and Kathy (Barrett) Heibel in Rochester, Minn. Tyler attended Fillmore Central School district and graduated in 2002. Running was something Tyler always loved. He was on the track team throughout his high school career, but continued to run all throughout his life. Growing up, Tyler had a very special bond with his many cousins, nieces and nephews, leaving many fun stories to tell. He had a smile that lit up the whole room.

Tyler enjoyed music very much. He went to see his favorite band, Aerosmith, in concert with his father in Mankato, Minn., when he was just 16 years old. Tyler saw them five more times among many other concerts with family and friends. Tyler also really loved biking and participated in mountain bike competitions in different regions across the country. He had a real passion for bike racing, competition, and developing lasting relationships.

Tyler worked several different jobs throughout the years with his most recent being a registered member of the Carpenters Union. He also really enjoyed his time with the Fountain Volunteer Fire Department. Tyler never hesitated to offer a helping hand any time he could. Tyler loved hotrods and still had his ‘64 Chevelle that he drove to prom.

The most special bond Tyler held dear was with his Border Collie Bella and cat Casper. Ever since she was a puppy, Bella never left his side and they had many different adventures together.

Tyler is survived by his parents John and Kathy Heibel of Fountain, Minn.; brothers Jeremy (Crystal) Scrabeck of LeRoy, Minn., and Charlie (Beth Dieter) Heibel of Harmony, Minn.; uncles Ken (Verdell) Heibel, Rex (Winnie) Fowler, Bill Barrett, Jim Barrett, Don (Julie) Barrett, Dave (Tammy) Barrett; aunts Pat Jordan, Rose Scrabeck, Peggy Barrett, Jackie Johnson, Sandra (Steve) Ristau; and a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews.

Tyler was preceded in death by his grandparents Louise and Reinard Heibel and Betty and Don Barrett, four uncles, one aunt, and two cousins.

Tyler was a very kind soul who was adored by many, especially by his beloved dog Bella, and was very passionate about the things that he loved. He will be sorely missed.

A celebration of life will be held at the community center in Fountain, Minn., on Saturday, January, 10, 2026, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
