Truman Archie Dahl passed away peacefully on May 17, 2024. Truman was born February 21, 1932 to Adolf and Thora Dahl. Truman was the first born boy after 22 grandchildren to carry the Dahl name. There was much excitement and many wanted to contribute to naming him. His sister Mavis insisted on Twillard. Luckily, Thora refused!
Truman graduated from Rushford High School and the University of Minnesota. On June 20, 1954, he was married to Patricia Johson. He served in the United States Army as a Specialist 3, stationed at Fort Carson, Colo., and in Stuttgart, Germany from September 1954 to June 1956.
Truman took over the family farm in 1959. In addition to raising livestock, he sold Pioneer seed corn for 27 years. Pioneer Days were highlighted by Pat’s homemade donuts.
Truman loved his family, cows and recreational vehicles. Many weekends were spent boating on the Mississippi River with family and friends.
Truman was preceded in death by his parents Adolf and Thora Dahl, brother Don, sister Mavis and his beloved wife of 69 years, Patty.
He is survived by his children Margo Aakre, Randy (Kathy), Mark (Peggy), and Tim (Becky); eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Over the years, Truman has provided many great stories to be retold and cherished. He will continue to bring joy, love and laughter to his family.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church, with the Reverend Jackie Short officiating. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until the time of service. He will be laid to rest at Highland Prairie Cemetery.
