2022 Season: The Gopher boys and girls each took fourth (of 16) at the 1A True Team meet. The girls were TRC champions while the boys took fourth (of 10). The boys finished seventh at the 1A Meet, the girls eighth (of 21). The boys 4×200 and 4×100 (Isaac Erding, Eli Hopp, Thad Evans, Sam Backer) took second and third respectively at state. Zayda Priebe (Discus, Shot) and Backer (100) each made state individually. Priebe took second at the Discus and seventh at the Shot. She was double TRC throw champion.

Key Underclassmen: Sophomores Jaelyn LaPlante, Adia Evans, Lelani Clifford, and Rebecca Copeman; 8th grader Savannah Peterson.
Kids to Watch: All four guy members of the TRC Meet and 1A champion, state second place 4×200 and third place 4×100 (Sam Backer, Isaac Erding, Eli Hopp, Thad Evans) return. Backer is also three-time state qualifier in the solo sprints (100 twice, 200 once). He was TRC champion in the 100. Erding (6th Pole Vault) and Blake Thompson (8th Shot) also finished highly at sections last year. Two members of the TRC champion, 1A third place 4×800 return (Alex Rowland, Treyten Lanning). On the girls side, Lexi Kivimagi (4th 3,200), Anna Kivimagi (4th 300-hurdles), Chloe Berg (4th Triple Jump), and Jaelyn LaPlante (6th High Jump) placed highly at sections. Kivimagi was 300-hurdles TRC champion. The fifth place 4×100 returns three members (Lauryn Daniels, J-LaPlante, Evy Goldsmith).

Where we left off in 2022: The Burro boys were 1A True Team and state champions. The girls were 1A True Team runner-up and took fourth at state. The girls took second at individual sections, the boys fourth. The boys 4×800 (Carson Ruen, Isaac Snyder, Luke Ruen, Jayce Kiehne) took second at state. The girls 4×400 (Morgan Pickett, Lynsey Ruen, Kammry Broadwater, Brielle Ruen) took seventh at state. Addie Miner (5th Pole Vault), Kiehne (5th 800), and B-Ruen (7th 400), and Lynsey Ruen (9th 300-hurdles) all placed top 10 at state.

Kids to Watch: On the boys side, three members of the 1A champ and state runner-up 4×800 return (Isaac Snyder, Luke Ruen, Jayce Kiehne). Kiehne also was 800-meter section champ and took fifth at state. Boston Wright (5th Pole Vault), Chase Christianson (7th High Jump, 7th Triple Jump) and Will Harvey (5th 110-hurdles) finished highly at sections. Four members of the section fourth-place boys 4×400 (Christianson, Snyder, L-Ruen, S. Springer) return. On the girls side, two members of the state 4×400 return (Kammry Broadwater, Lynsey Ruen). L-Ruen (300-hurdles) is a two-event returning state qualifier. Section champ and state fifth place Pole Vaulter Addie Miner returns. Madison Simon (4th Pole Vault), Lillyan Kiehne (5th 3,200), Broadwater (4th Discus, 5th Triple Jump), and Sahara Morken (8th 1,600) are other high 1A meet returning finishers. Simon is a former state qualifier (Pole Vault 2021). Three members of the 1A fourth place 4×800 return (Morken, Katie Pickett, L-Kiehne).

Southland

Where we left off in 2022: The girls won the Section 1A True team title and repeated as state True Team champions. The boys took third at the 1A True Team meet and fifth at state (qualified by wild card). The girls won the 1A individual team title while the boys took second. The girls 4×200 team (Anika Reiland, Chantle Reiland, Breeley Galle, Anna Oehlke) won the 1A and state title. A-Reiland had two individual state runners-up (100, 200).
C-Reiland took third in the 100. Galle competed in the 300-hurdles. Lexy Foster took third at state in the Shot Put and competed in the Discus. James Howard took third in the 400 and seventh in the 200. Garrison Hubka took seventh in the 1,600. Riley Paul took sixth in the Shot Put. Paul and Christian Luthe competed in the discus. Kids to Watch: Three members of the girls 1A and state 4×200 champion return (Anika Reiland, Chantle Reiland, Breeley Galle). A-Reiland (100, 200), C-Reiland (100), Lexy Foster (Shot, Discus), and Galle (300-hurdles) are returning multi-event state qualifiers. A-Reiland was double state runner-up, C-Reiland (100) and Foster (Shot) took third. A-Reiland and Foster are both double individual section champs. Galle (3rd T-Jump) and C-Reiland (8th Long Jump) added high sections places. Rebecca Hoffman (3rd Shot, 7th Discus), McKenna Hendrickson (4th Pole Vault), Naomi Warmka (5th 1,600), Neveah Shaw (5th H-Jump), and Katelyn Hauser (8th 100-hurdles) also placed highly at sections. All four members of the girls section third place 4×400 (Lauren Queensland, Hendrickson, Kendyl Queensland, C-Reiland) and 4×800 (Warmka, L-Queensland, Hendrickson, K-Queensland) teams return. L-Queensland, K-Queensland, and Hendrickson are former state competitors. On the guy’s side, Garrison Hubka is a multi-year state qualifier, having taken seventh in the 1,600 last year. He also had high finish at sections in the 3,200 (4th). Lucca Sween (5th Discus), Zach Reiland (7th 300-hurdles), and Andrew Imm (8th 800) also finished highly at sections. All four members of the section fifth place 4×800 (Erik Shaw, Carter Glynn, Imm, Tate Georgen) return.

Where we left off in 2022: The boys took fifth at the 1A True Team meet, the girls ninth (of 16). The boys were the TRC meet champions while the girls took 8th (of 10). The boys took fifth at the 1A Meet. The Tro-Canes had two state qualifiers, Tyler Rislov (3,200) and Lauren Honken (Pole Vault).

Kids to Watch: Gal Lauren Honken (Pole Vault) is the only state returnee. Aubryana Boldt (3rd 300-hurdles), Sydney Torgerson (6th Discus), and Brielle Rasmussen (7th 200) finished highly at sections. On the guys side, Gregg Gile (Triple Jump, Long Jump, 100) is a three-event section qualifier including taking fourth in the T-Jump. Dalton Hoel (800, L-Jump), Quintin Betthhauser (110-hurdles, 300-hurdles), and Jackson Bergan (Shot, Discus) are two event 1A qualifiers. Hoel took third in the 800, Betthauser sixth in the 110-hurdles, and Bergan fifth in the Shot. Q-Betthauser and Hoel return from the fifth place 1A 4×400. Hoel is a double TRC champion (800, Long-Jump). Gile is the TRC T-Jump champ.
Caledonia/Spring Grove
Head Coaches: Reese Wait (boys), Mitchell Bechtel (girls).
Where we left off in 2022: C/SG did not compete True Team. The boys took sixth at the TRC Meet, the girl’s 10th (of 10). The Warriors sole state entrant was Chris Pieper, the state runner-up in the High Jump.
Seniors: (Boys) Hunter Holland, Tysen Grinde, Lyle Myhre. (Girls) Ayshia Gay, Charlese Walk, Kloe Jore.

Kids to Watch: Fischer Wait is a two-event 1A individual qualifier (4th 400, 6th 200). The third place 1A 4×200 returns three members (Eli Staggemeyer, Eric Wait, Josh Beardmore). Ethan Stendel (8th High Jump) also finished highly at sections.
