On a cool August morning, Todd Marlin Gregerson, 62, of rural Grand Meadow Minn., passed away surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren, with hobo Shoestring playing in the background on “The YouTube.”
Todd was the only son of Bob and Maxine Gregerson of Grand Meadow. He was born December 9, 1961, in Rochester Minn. He grew up in a large family with five sisters: Robbie, Moni, Becky, Georgia and Michelle and one brudder, Jeanine.
He grew up and attended school in Grand Meadow, Minn. Following school, he pursued a career driving truck. In his travels, he met Phyllis Lynn Swift of Topeka, Kans., and they were united in marriage on June 23, 1984. They had four children: Bobby (Kendall) Gregerson, Coyette (Chandler) Gregerson-Giles, Brandon Gregerson and Jackie Gregerson.
Todd had an optimistic personality and saw most things as opportunities, not challenges. He had big dreams for himself and his family. He wanted the best for his children, unconditionally. He was their greatest supporter. He knew when to lift them up, when to let them fall, and when to point out they were wrong. Todd didn’t believe much in the grays of life – most things were black and white.
Todd could always be counted on to make a new friend feel welcome by making them totally uncomfortable with a practical joke. His sense of humor was one of a kind and memories of his pranks will be cherished by everyone who knew him.
There were so many things that filled Todd’s life with joy. He enjoyed tinkering with tractors, growing a garden, tending to and riding horses, spending time (listening to music) on his front porch, and videotaping his grandkids. His greatest joy in life was undoubtably his family.
Todd spent 17 years doing his favorite thing of all, being a grandfather to Maggie, Makayla, Conner, Logan, Gemma, Nora, Oliver, Gunner, Beau, Print and Brooks. They will always cherish memories with their grandpa. Whether it be carrying them around in a bucket or wagon, teaching them to ride a bike, countless spelling words and driving lessons, or always saying yes when asked that repeated question – “Grandpa, can we have ice cream?”
Memorial services for Todd will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Bear Creek Lutheran Church in rural Grand Meadow with Pastor Bob Tewes officiating. Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
