Todd Dean Himlie of Harmony, Minn., passed away on February 17, 2020. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Lindstrom Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Todd was born on July 21, 1958, to Minar and Lyla (Kopperud) Himlie, the youngest of six siblings. He attended Rushford schools and enjoyed athletic activities and the many friendships he made. Upon graduating he entered the grocery business and following a move to Harmony, met and married his wife of 36 years, Kay (Schriever). They welcomed three children together and had many fun adventures traveling, playing games and being outside.
Todd valued service through the Lions Club, the Root River Church of the Brethren, Camp Pine Lake and other organizations. He was an active part of the community, and a nurturing presence to those around him. We were blessed by his encouragement and support.
Todd is survived by his wife Kay, children Sonia (Kurt) Bockoven, Alyssa (Andy) Melbostad, and Michael; grandchildren Clayton, Carter, Kessa, Caiden, and Blair; siblings Barb (Steve) Burke, Dewey (Geri) Himlie, Doug Himlie, Ross (Fay) Himlie, and Teresa Himlie; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Minar and Lyla Himlie.

How sorry we are to learn of Todd’s passing, he will be missed.
Todd and I first became friends in 1st grade. In all my years of knowing him, he was genuinely a wonderful person to be around. He was fun-loving, and a gifted athlete, especially as a basketball player. In school, I remember him as having a talent for mischief, but very rarely getting caught. I believe it was Todd, who in 7th grade threw a paper airplane that skimmed the ceiling, and came almost straight down, and stuck in our French teacher’s glasses, Mrs. Lacher! She whirled around, speaking her only words of English the whole semester said, “Who threw that missile?”. Of course Todd was sitting at his desk looking completely innocent!
In the years since high school, we only saw each other infrequently, but when we did, it was like old times. I recall soon after their marriage, he and Kay came to visit us in California. He was already working in the grocery business, and I remember him being particularly impressed as we drove through the may produce fields near Watsonville, CA.
May the family find comfort in knowing that he is now in the loving arms of Jesus!
