Timothy Joseph Orr, 72, of Houston, Minn., passed away suddenly due to cancer on Monday, October 14, 2024, in the comfort of his home with his wife by his side. Born on May 25, 1952, in La Crosse, Wis., to Allen and Irene (Bigelow) Orr, Tim’s journey was one filled with love, laughter, and a true passion for life.
After graduating from Houston High School in 1970, Tim pursued his love for carpentry at Winona Area Technical School. His dedication and skill led him to proudly serve in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1978, a testament to his unwavering commitment to his country.
On April 22, 1978, Tim tied the knot with his beloved Dianne “Dino” Van Gundy at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, Minn. Together, they built a life that centered around family, hard work, and endless adventures. From remodeling homes to tending to the family farm in Yucatan, Tim’s hands brought beauty and joy to every project he touched.
Throughout his life, Tim’s love for the land and dedication to conservation shone brightly. His work with hog barns for Holden Farms and receiving the Conservation Award for Houston County in 1993 were just a few examples of his tireless efforts to protect the environment he cherished.
An active member of the Houston Money Creek Creamery, Upper Midwest Allis-Chalmers Club, American Legion Post 423 – Houston, and the Legion Bar Board were testaments to his love for camaraderie and togetherness.
Tim’s interests were as varied as they were vibrant – from farming and side-by-side riding to camping and hunting, he lived life to the fullest. An avid collector of AC Tractors and a master of carpentry, Tim’s talents were as boundless as his laughter was infectious.
He is survived by his wife Dino, children Megan (Tim) Degenhardt and Joseph (Aimee) Orr, grandchildren Blakelyn, Bryce and Olivia; siblings Peter (Pam) Orr, Annette Frank, Daniel (Anita) Orr, and Veronica (Tim) Amberg; and many nieces and nephews.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents Allen and Irene Orr, parents-in-law Harold and Dolores Van Gundy, brothers-in-law Dennis and Gary Van Gundy, and niece Sara Van Gundy.
