Nikki Olson of rural Bratsberg just launched her new business, Three Little Birds Travel Agency, on November 14, 2025. The name, Three Little Birds Travel Agency, came from her three children. Nikki felt that the fact that birds fly and travel tied in well with her company. She also enjoyed the song “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley, feeling the song’s lines “don’t worry about a thing; every little thing’s gonna be alright” fit her business perfectly. Nikki has incorporated Philippians 4:6 which says “Don’t worry about a thing” into the brand for her business.

Since November 14, she’s had several inquiries and is currently working on a trip proposal for a group trip for 35 to 40 people.

Nikki first came up with the idea of her new business when she and her husband Gregg were out to dinner on a date night. The couple had just found out that they were pregnant with their third child. Nikki operates her own hair salon; she had no plans of leaving that business, but was looking for an additional source of income for their growing family. Nikki’s family is her priority; she wanted to be available to her family when they needed her.

Gregg suggested that she consider becoming a travel agent. The idea “just clicked the underlying passion in her” according to Nikki. In her previous careers she had worked in hotels for six years (five years in Dallas and one year in Minneapolis) as an event planner. Running her hair salon gave her experience in entrepreneurship. Having a travel agency seemed to be the perfect use of her previous experiences.

Nikki loves to plan and organize; she also loves to write stories. Dreaming about where people are going and planning their trips appeals to her.

Nikki explored her options and found a three-month online travel agent course called Careers on Vacation.  The course taught her the ins and outs of the industry and connected her with itinerary builders and programs. While Nikki graduated from the course in February 2025, she is still connected and networks with the business on a FaceBook group. After graduation, Nikki took the time to make a solid business plan before launching her fledgling company.

In her agency, Nikki handles all the details from start to finish for a traveler so they truly don’t have to worry. With her relationships with other agents and her access to a different portal of the web, Nikki can find different deals and save the traveler from dealing with all the “noise of the internet.” Because she is a travel agent, she has access to BMDs (business development managers) who can help her when issues arise for her clients.

Nikki uses open-ended questions to find out exactly what kind of travel experience her customers are looking for. She likened this to the type of questioning she does when a hair salon client wants a new style. Nikki can book all transportation, hotels and bookings. “I can find what my clients really want, help them navigate and ultimately save time for my clients.

After potential customers fill out an initial inquiry form on her website threelittlebirdstravelagency.com, she makes a free discovery call to the potential client. Before Nikki puts together further information following that, the client pays a $50 non-refundable fee. Nikki then creates a more detailed proposal if the client is satisfied with the information she provides. The planning fee is $30 per night minus the initial $50 deposit; the planning fee tops out at a $450 fee.

Although Nikki and Gregg lost their third child, Walter, at 18 weeks, Nikki still feels the travel agency works well for her family of husband Gregg, four-year-old son Harlan and two-year-old daughter Dolly.

Nikki quoted a Bible passage, Proverbs 16:9, “We make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” According to Nikki, this passage is an anthem for their lives.

With the agency, Nikki is able to work from home as needed, but is also able to close her computer and give her complete attention to her children’s needs. Her children remain her priority.

It’s not surprising that Nikki’s hobbies are church, her faith and reading the Bible.

Nikki has traveled quite extensively to South Africa, the Caribbean, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Hawaii and lots of other states. She would love to dream and to help plan your ideal trip with you whether it be romantic, family or corporate travel. She looks forward to helping busy wedding couples plan their honeymoons.

Isn’t this a great time of year to plan a trip? Perhaps to a beach somewhere with warm breezes? Just check out Three Little Birds Travel Agency and “don’t worry about a thing!”
