August 7, 1943– November 30, 2025
Thomas Robert Jeffers (Tommy, Tom), 82, of Chatfield, Minn., passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2025, leaving behind a trail of hay bales, bingo wins, and berry-stained smiles. Born near Peterson, Minn., Tom was a whirlwind of a man – always moving, always building, always connecting. As founder of Tom Jeffers Hay and Straw, he championed the working man with a handshake and a hay bale, turning hardship into honest hustle.
He is survived by his devoted wife Jane Jeffers, daughters Rachel Powell (Chad Powell) and Bethany Jeffers (Jose Barcelo), cherished grandchildren Ashley, Gavriel, Oliver, Arielle, Stella and Nash; and siblings Judy and Chuck (Debbie).
He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Aletha, and siblings Jim (Max), John (Greg), Bill (Carol), and Dick (Camille).
Tom’s motto, “People are people,” was his North Star – he saw the spark in everyone, from cows to strangers in the neighborhood. A self-taught craftsman, he built his own home, salvaged cars with steady hands, and gardened with a green thumb that rivaled his sweet tooth. (Grocery store ice cream with frozen berries he’d picked over the summer? Perfection.) He thrived on bingo nights, community chats, and that quiet gratitude for life’s abundance; haters be forgiven. To each his own, but Tom’s way was all heart – and a little harmless mischief.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Joy Ridge Event Center in Chatfield, Minn. Visitation at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m., followed by lunch.
Hoff Funeral Home of Chatfield is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences and memories can be left for the family at www.hofffuneral.com.

Thomas Pyfferoen says
I remember Tom when he was in the national guard, he was a steel worker at the time. Hands of a guerrilla, heart of new born, mild mannered, always positive, full of life. Seen him at Chatfield Western days couple years ago, still had the demeanor of big Teddy bear.
Rest in peace friend.
