The Lanesboro FFA Chapter has been busy this year with career development events, award applications, and many fun activities for members. About 100 students are enjoying the friendships, opportunities, and recognition that FFA has to offer.
The year began with two members exhibiting at the Minnesota State Fair FFA Livestock Show. Soon after, members were competing in numerous career development events, including Livestock Evaluation, Dairy, Horse, Forestry, Soils, Meats, Floriculture, Nursery Landscape, Milk Products, Fish & Wildlife, Companion Animal, BIG, and the Junior High Ag Challenge. Seven teams qualified for the State Convention in April. Many contests are still ahead, including Farm Business Management, Milk Quality, Poultry, and Ag Mechanics.
Six members attended the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis in November, where they participated in tours, leadership sessions, and a concert. The chapter’s annual fruit sale was also a success, and members would like to thank the community and Rushford Foods for their continued support.
Members are looking forward to attending the State Convention in April, where many CDE teams will compete and Jensyn Storhoff will receive her State FFA Degree. Additional upcoming events include the annual banquet on March 16, FFA Week activities, Ag Day, and the Greenhouse Plant Sale.
To celebrate FFA Week, members will host a coloring contest for elementary students featuring artwork designed by member Liam Miller, along with a staff breakfast, student games, and Ag Olympics. It is sure to be a fun and memorable week for everyone involved!
