Fillmore County Journal, Stephen Hansen obituary

Stephen Lee Hansen, 63, of rural Fountain, died in a single car accident Friday, May 10, 2019.

Stephen was born April 24, 1956, in Sherman Tex., to James and Marlene (Hill) Hansen. After graduating from High School, Steph joined the Air Force and was based in Mountain Home Air Force Base, in Idaho, from 1974-1977. He then went on to Wartburg College, in Iowa, where he received his bachelor’s degree. In 1983 Steph married Connie Lynch in Waverly, Iowa.

Steph was employed at IBM in Rochester, and currently was working for People’s Food Coop in Rochester. He enjoyed playing frisbee golf, tinkering with computers, gardening, and get-togethers with family and friends.

Steph is remembered by his wife Connie and their four children: Scott and Jeff Hansen, both from Brookings, S. Dak.; Jonn Hansen of New Ulm, and Aimee Hansen of Kent, Ohio; his brother Christopher Hansen of Shell Rock, Iowa; and two sisters, Rebecca Hansen of Waverly, Iowa, and Kathleen (Bob) Kline of Pueblo, Colo.

Steph is preceded in death by his parents, James and Marlene Hansen.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2019, at Calvary Baptist Church in Chatfield.  Officiating will be Pastor Mike Gittins.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Riley Funeral Home, in Chatfield, and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will follow the services at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston at 1 p.m.
