Stanley (Stan) “The Legend” Kaase

September 16, 2024 by Fillmore County Journal

Stanley Kaase obituary, Fillmore county Journal

Stanley (Stan) “The Legend” Kaase was born July 17, 1935, in Preston, Minn, to Albert and Ida (Vaalemoen) Kaase. He passed away peacefully September 11, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Stan  attended school with the class of 1955 in Preston.  On December 27, 1969, he married Shirley (Adler) in Cresco, Iowa.  Stan worked for many years at the Preston Packaging Plant and Root River Hardwoods.  He was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church just one mile from his home. He was a loving father and grandfather, and his children and grandchildren were the highlight of his life. He never forgot a birthday or anniversary. Stan enjoyed tinkering, rebuilding and driving his John Deere tractors, looking at old photos, and telling stories about them, sharing his childhood memories with his friends and family, tending to the orioles and humming birds each year, mowing the lawn, sitting in the picnic shelter admiring the farm, listening to Yacht Rock Radio, going to the casino, visiting with friends, and watching the grass grow so he could mow it again. Recently, he had the pleasure of assisting his grandson Quinci in completing his driving training hours while they were driving through Hutton Valley in search of deer.

Stan is survived by his children Vikki (Tim) Stankey, Dennis (Patricia) Hodkinson, Tom (Dorle) Kaase, Traci Kaase, Heidi (Brent) Ronning, Jamie (Marci) Kaase and Joe (Angi) Kaase; grandchildren Heather (Shawn), Christopher (Mercy), Kaine (Lexi), Carmen, Ryli (Megan), Darby, Quinci and Sierra; great-grandchildren Evan, Genevieve and Stetson; and special friend Bonnie Fossum.

He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, a brother, Orlando; a sister, Allene; and parents Ida and Albert Kaase

A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18 at Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony, Minn.  Funeral services will be held at Greenfield Lutheran on Thursday, September 19 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Kurt Bockoven officiating.  A burial will follow at Greenfield Lutheran Cemetery. The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel is assisting the family with arrangements.
