SPRING GROVE  REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING OCTOBER 20, 2025

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District #297 was called to order at 7:04 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2025 and held in the Learning Resource Center.

Board members present: Rhan Flatin, Myriah Klug, Ashley Olson, Kelly Rohland, Lisa Myhre, Stephanie Jaster

Board members absent: Rhan Flatin

School employees present: Rachel Udstuen, Gina Morken, Matt Rosaaen, Tanya Elton, Rachel Bjerke, Julianna Lile, Chris Deck

Motion by Myriah Klug, seconded by Ashley Olson and carried unanimously to approve the consent agenda as presented:

  • Approval of the Agenda and Additional Agenda Items
  • Approval of the Minutes from the Regular School Board Meeting held on Monday, September 15, 2025
  • Approval of the Treasurer’s Report, including electronic fund transfers for September and bill approval for October
  • Approval of the Teacher Contract for Laura Moen
  • Approval of the Resignation of Custodian Mark Schroeder

GENERAL

Member Rhan Flatin introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption, which motion was seconded by Member Kelly Rohland:

RESOLUTION OF GOVERNING BOARD SUPPORTING FORM A APPLICATION TO MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE FOUNDATION

WHEREAS, the Minnesota State High School League Foundation was formed to provide support for Minnesota’s high school youth to participate in athletics and fine arts;

WHEREAS, the Governing Board of the Spring Grove School District recognizes the value of student participation in extracurricular activities; and

WHEREAS, the MSHSL Foundation is offering grants and funding to assist schools in recognizing, promoting, and funding extracurricular participation by high school students in athletic and fine arts programs.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Governing Board of the Spring Grove School District supports the school’s application to the Minnesota State High School League Foundation for a FORM A grant to offset student activity fees.

Upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Myhre, Klug, Jaster, Olson, Rohland, Flatin, and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon the resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.

Member Kelly Rohland introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption, which motion was seconded by Member Myriah Klug:

RESOLUTION OF SCHOOL BOARD/GOVERNING BOARD SUPPORTING

FORM B APPLICATION TO MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE FOUNDATION

WHEREAS, the Minnesota State High School League Foundation was formed to provide support for Minnesota’s high school youth to participate in athletics and fine arts;

WHEREAS, the Governing Board of Spring Grove Public School District recognizes the value of student participation in extracurricular activities; and

WHEREAS, the MSHSL Foundation is offering grants and funding to assist schools to provide seminars/training opportunities or support for specific school functions for students/faculty members/officials and others who are involved in athletic and fine arts programs.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Governing Board of Spring Grove School District supports the school’s application to the Minnesota State High School League Foundation for a FORM B grant. 

Upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Klug, Flatin, Myhre, Olson Jaster, Rohland, the following voted against the same: None; whereupon the resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.

BOARD MEETING DATES

Motion by Lisa Myhre, seconded by Kelly Rohland and carried unanimously to move the next school board meeting from Mon. 11/17/2025 p.m. to Tues. 11/18/25 due to presentation at MREA.

Motion by Kelly Rohland, seconded by Myriah Klug and carried unanimously to move the time of the school board meeting on Mon. 1/20/26 from 7:00p.m. to 5:30p.m. due to the 6th Grade Musical.

Motion by Ashley Olson, seconded by Kelly Rohland and carried unanimously to adjourn at 8:22 p.m.
