The Spring Grove boys hit their first five shots, all 3-pointers, and finished with a season-most 13 treys during a 79-26 lashing of visiting Lyle/Pacelli. Elijah Solum passed out a career-high 11 assists, Ben Udstuen scored a career-high 21 points along with 8 rebounds and Jaxon Strinmoen had a 20-point, 12-rebound double-double. Spring Grove (17-1, 14-1 SEC) clinched at least a share of a fourth straight SEC East Division championship and the Lions’ 13th title in the last 14 years.

State-ranked No. 3 Spring Grove controlled a season-high 47 rebounds, more than twice as many as the 23 boards for Lyle/Pacelli (8-12, 7-9 SEC). Twelve Lions played, 11 rebounded,10 scored and seven hit 3-pointers. Four scored as they hit seven of their first nine shots beyond the 3-point arc. For the night, Strinmoen buried 4 of 7 trey attempts.

There were no missed free throws, but there were not many attempted. Spring Grove was 4 for a season-fewest-4 charity shots and L/P was 1 for 1. There was no suspense with an early 24-point run putting Spring Grove ahead 27-2. It was 45-13 at halftime before the Lions outscored L/P 34-13 following intermission.

Spring Grove has won five straight against the Athletics including a 59-38 decision earlier this season. The B-team (12-2) also completed a season sweep, 75-21.
