June 1, 2026 by Paul Trende Leave a Comment

Houston senior Olivia Yohe (4-for-4 in the game) does her patented slap-hitter attack to put the ball in play in the Hurricanes second round playoff contest with Hayfield. Team double-H won the game 21-1, then 8-1 over W-K, putting the undefeated #2-ranked ‘Canes (22-0) in a 1A “chair” game versus Southland.

Houston softball, ranked #2 in Class A, kept up its perfect season with a pair of playoff wins.  After a first-round bye, the Hurricanes (1-seed, 20-0) had no problem with 9-seed Hayfield (9-seed, 9-11) in the second round. The final was 21-1 in four innings. Claire Frauenkron dabbled in threes (3-3, 3 RBI, 3 R) while picking up the pitching win (4 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K).  Julia Swenson (2-4, 2 RBI, 2 R) hit a home run. Olivia Yohe was perfect (4-4, 3 RBI, 3 R) at the plate.  Caidence Frauenkron (3-4, 3 RBI, 3 R), Rylee Boldt (3-4, two 2B, 2 RBI, 3 R), and Aspen Peterson (3-4, 2B, 3 RBI, R) also had three hits.  Kayla Klunder (2-3, 2 RBI, R), Hailey Stark (2-3, RBI, R) and Kylie Stinson (1-2, 4 R) helped.  Houston (1-seed, 21-0) then trekked to Austin, playing Wabasha-Kellogg (5-seed, 12-11).  Claire F. (7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K) yielded just three hits while driving in three runs (2-4, 2 R).  Boldt (1-2, 3 RBI, 3 R) had the biggest shot, a two-run home run in the fourth.  Stinson (3-4, two 2B, RBI) had three hits.  Stark (2-3, 2 R), Klunder (1-3, 2B, R), and Yohe (1-2) added to the offense in an 8-1 win.  The Hurricanes (1-seed, 22-0) move on to face Southland (2-seed, 18-2) in the “chair” game. Houston beat the Rebels 17-1 and 6-5 in the regular season.
