(G) Caledonia/Spring Grove/Houston 0, Dover-Eyota 6 (The Warriors had to adjust to the much speedier action on artificial turf. D-E led 4-0 at halftime with quality passes and shots. “Overall, we played better than the week before,” said coach Chris Jandt, “and we were able to possess the ball longer.”)
(B) Dover-Eyota 2, Caledonia/Spring Grove/Houston 1 (The Warriors performed well in the first half, with a Landon O’Heron goal earning a 1-1 draw at the break. “D-E came out strong in the second half,” said assistant coach Andrew Marschall, “and we were not prepared to counter them.”)
(B) Cal/SG/Hou 0, St. Charles/Lewiston-Altura/Lanesboro 9 (The boys had difficulty adjusting to the artificial turf at St. Charles versus SC/L-A/L. “We began trying to change up the formation to find solutions to stop their fast offense,” said assistant Andrew Marschall. It was 7-0 at halftime)
(G) SC/L-A/Lanes 5, Cal/SG/Hou 0 (It was a formidable task against St. Charles/Lewiston-Altura/Lanesboro, the defending conference and section champions who returned two All-State players. “We made a few adjustments that caused St. Charles some problems,” said coach Jandt. “Josie Foster (goal keeper) had a great game and looked the part of an all-conference player (18 saves). Josie doesn’t miss much and was on point. Holding St. Charles to five goals was an accomplishment when they have been putting up seven to nine goals a game.” The Warriors managed only four shots on goal.)
(B) Cal/SG/Hou 0, Holmen 8 (“We decided early on to try different formations and putting players in different positions,” said assistant Andrew Marschall. “We went in knowing it would be a tough game, but with an open mind on how we might be able to change our course this season.” It was 6-0 at intermission. Cal/SG/Hou > 1-4, 1-7)
(G) Lake City Tourney > Cal/SG/Hou 2, Lake City 8 (The Warriors took an early lead after Loisah Gay raced past the Tiger defense and scored 21 minutes into the action. But after surrendering a penalty-kick goal, Cal/SG/Hou trailed 3-1 at halftime. The Tigers added two more goals in the first two minutes of the second half. Gay then scored again to make it 5-2 before the home team tacked on the final three goals. Josie Foster had 10 saves.); Cal/SG/Hou 4, Triton/K-W/Hayfield 1 (In the third-place match, Triton took the lead in the 14th minute. Loisah Gay tied it in the 35th minute with an assist from Siri Konkel. After halftime, Konkel scored from 30 yards out to put the Warriors ahead, 2-1. A goal from Gay made it 3-1. Four minutes later, Konkel assisted again as Macy Kraus “bodied it in.” It was the Warriors (0-5, 1-6) first win.)
