Sharon was born April 14, 1934, and grew up on the west shore of Long Lake, Minn. She was the daughter of Dorothy Nelson Dexter and Everett Dexter, and had one younger sister, Lane Ann Dexter, all of whom predeceased her. She lived in and around the Twin Cities area until moving to Southeastern Minnesota in 1999, then to Western North Carolina in 2021.
On September 25, 2024, she passed away peacefully with family around her.
She is survived by her daughter Heidi Haehlen and son-in-law Dudley Finch of Clyde, N. C., her daughter Suzannah (Suki) Hanzel and son-in-law David Hanzel of Prior Lake, Minn., her granddaughter Megan Hanelitz and grandson-in-law Reed Hanelitz of Robbinsdale, Minn., her former husband Jim Haehlen, many good friends, old and new; and Molly, Little Girl, and Yaya Kitty, her beloved cats.
Sharon did not want any kind of memorial. If you would like to plant flowers, a shrub or a tree for her, she would love that. Or make a donation to the organization of your choice in honor of her love of nature and philanthropic spirit.
The care of Mrs. Dexter has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville, N. C., and an online memorial register is available at “Obituaries” at www.wellsfuneralhome.com.

Sharon was a lovely lady. She lived just up the street from me in Preston. My auto repair shop would do the oil changes on her car. I so enjoyed returning her car. She would invite me into her house. She was so creative. Her home was very interesting. We would wander thru her house together and talk about a pillow or a picture, maybe a statue or lamp. We were “kindred spirits”. We both liked eclectic items.
My sympathy to her family.

Thank you, Dorrie, for your kind comment. Our mom loved her little cottage, and her life in the Driftless Region. We think her kitty Molly came from your repair shop! Thank you again, and blessings to you.
Heidi and Dudley.
