SEMAC awards Arts Grants

On November 15, the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council (SEMAC) awarded 50 arts programming grants for a total of $347,410 in funding to applicants throughout southeastern Minnesota.  This included 26 Legacy grants for $227,335, 16 Programming Grants for $84,700, seven Small Towns/Rural Areas grants for $34,210, and one School Residency grant for $1,165.

SEMAC is the State Arts Board-designated granting authority for local/regional arts producing and sponsoring organizations and disburses funds allocated for this purpose by the Minnesota State Legislature.  The SEMAC region includes the counties of Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha, and Winona.

•Mantorville Theatre Company – $5,000 Small Towns/Rural Areas grant for Completion of Enhanced Safety and Portability of Audience Seating.

Fillmore County

•Chatfield Brass Band – $4,690 Small Towns/Rural Areas grant for Chatfield Music in the Park Summer Concerts.

•Zumbrota Area Arts Council – $5,000 Small Towns/Rural Areas grant for 2023 Summer Music in East Park.

Houston County

•Lanesboro Barn Dance – $4,520 Small Towns/Rural Areas grant for 2023 Barn Dance Series.

•Southeast Minnesota Bluegrass Association – $5,000 Small Towns/Rural Areas grant for May 2023 Bluegrass Music Festival.

•Spring Grove Schools – $5,000 Small Towns/Rural Areas grant for Theatre Partnership.

Mower County

•Austin Area Commission for the Arts – $10,000 Legacy grant for Emerging Artists Supports for ArtWorks Festival.

•Austin Community Band – $5,000 Programming grant for Summer Concerts in the Park.

•Austin Symphony Orchestra – $5,000 Programming grant for Drama & Democracy with Soprano Alexandra Louision.

•City of Austin Culture & Arts Commission – $10,000 Legacy grant for Mural Celebrating Diverse Community Members.

•Matchbox Children’s Theatre – $5,000 Programming grant for Production of James and the Giant Peach.
