Cross Country: LARPH Boys Take Fourth, Rakosnik Ninth at State

The state Class A cross country meet had Section 1A on full display. Primarily included in that were Matt Kingsbury’s LARPH boys and L/FC running standout Autumn Rakosnik. Kingsland football is the Section 1 9-Man runner-up after falling to Leroy-Ostrander/Lyle/Pacelli 38-27. It was a tough end for the Knights, but their seniors (and others) have helped the program to back-to-back section title games after over two decades without one.

#5 Cardinals Use Fourth Quarter to Down Kingsland, Make State Looking to defend their Section 1 9-Man crown, Kingsland (3-seed, 8-2) never trailed versus #5 in 9-Man LeRoy-Ostrander/Lyle/Pacelli (1-seed, 10-0) until the fourth quarter. In one of the biggest volleyball shockers in the Journal Sports era, Fillmore Central (6-seed, 17-15) clinched a state berth by taking down #2 in A Mabel-Canton (1-seed, 34-3) in four sets for the 1A title. The Falcons celebrate their second ever state trip.
