At approximately 3:56 a.m. on Saturday May 24, the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a house fire at 13073 111th Ave., LeRoy, Minn., in Fillmore County. Mower County Deputies were first on scene and spoke with a 46-year-old woman who had sustained an injury jumping from a window to escape the fire. The woman advised responding deputies that her husband, 90-year-old Donald Norval Anderson was in the home along with two dogs. Donald Anderson was subsequently found deceased inside the home. One dog was also found deceased inside the home.
The adult female was transported from the scene to St. Marys Hospital with injuries resulting from the fire. The Chester Iowa Fire Department, Ostrander Fire Department, Spring Valley Fire Department, Spring Valley Ambulance, LeRoy Fire Department, LeRoy Ambulance, Mower County Sheriff’s Office, and Fillmore County Sheriff’s deputies and investigators responded.
Fillmore County investigators and deputies along with the Minnesota State Fire Marshall’s Office continue to investigate to determine the cause of the fire.
