August 22, 2023 by Fillmore County Journal

Ross Boyum obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Ross A. Boyum, 80, of Peterson, Minn., died on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at his home with his family at his side.

Ross Ardell Boyum was born on July 28, 1943, in Rushford, Minn., to Arthur and Helen (Johnson) Boyum. He was raised on the family farm, where he lived all his life. Ross worked on the family farm raising hogs from farrow to finish as well as growing corn and soybeans. On April 18, 1964, Ross was united in marriage with Sharon Kinneberg at Rushford Lutheran Church in Rushford. Ross retired from farming in 2005. After retirement, Ross and Sharon wintered in Mesa, Ariz., for 15 years. Ross served on many area boards which included: Farmers Elevator for nine years, Ferndale Golf Course for nine years, and Rushford State Bank for 20 years of which he was also director. He was a member of Rushford Lutheran Church. Ross loved to golf with his wife and children. They made a great foursome. He also enjoyed many RV trips out west to the American and Canadian Rockies. Ross enjoyed feeding the birds, Big 10 men’s and women’s basketball. He was a perfectionist at mowing his gorgeous yard and tending to the flowers and landscape at the farm.

Ross is survived by his wife Sharon, two children: Michelle Boyum of Carver, Minn., and Daniel (Tarra) Boyum of West Concord, Minn., two grandchildren: Hannah and Faith Boyum, his sister Nancy (Dean) Brown of Winona, Minn., and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents his son Brian and his brother Arthur, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials directed to the Rushford Ambulance Service.

There will be a visitation for Ross from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford. There will be a private family graveside service at Rushford Lutheran Cemetery.

Please leave a memory of Ross and sign his online guestbook at www.hofffuneral.com.
