Ronald Lee Schumann

August 14, 2025 by Fillmore County Journal

Ron Schumann obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Ronald Lee Schumann, age 76, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Ron was born on October 3, 1948, in Denver, Colo., to Henry and Verna (Edgar) Schumann. He was the first in his family to attend college, earning his bachelor’s degree in education. An entrepreneur at heart, Ron owned and operated G & R Fence in Brighton, Colo., for 32 years.

A dedicated and giving member of his community, Ron served as a volunteer firefighter in Brighton for 11 years. He was a lifelong Denver Broncos fan and had an enduring love for animals, especially those in need. Over the years, he rescued and cared for countless stray animals, guided by his deep compassion and gentle nature. Ron’s calming presence, steady demeanor, and remarkable patience touched all who knew him.

Ron will be remembered for his beautiful blue eyes, kind heart, and the unwavering loyalty he showed to family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Rider, brother Billy Schumann, sister Nina Mueller, many cousins, nieces and nephews; and by his cherished cat Katie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donny Schumann, and sister Linda Scott.

A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Lakeside Cemetery, 920 Nininger Road, Hastings.

Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings handled arrangements.

So sorry to hear of Ronnie’s passing. He was my best friend growing up. We enjoyed a lot of sport activities when young.
