Roger N. Eiken, age 83, of rural Canton, died Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Green Lea Senior Living in Mabel.
Roger was born April 26, 1934, in Spring Grove, Minn., to Norman and Doris (Dahl) Eiken. In 1952, he graduated from the Canton High School. He farmed in Amherst Township of Fillmore County, raising beef cattle and crops. On March 23, 1955 he married Winifred Wilson at the Whalen Lutheran Church.
He was a member of the Henrytown Lutheran Church, and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, going to the farmer’s market in Mabel, and going for drives around the countryside.
Roger is survived by his wife Winifred of Canton, Minn.; four children: Ashley of Canton, Joan (Steve) Michel of Harmony, Richard of Canton, and Jill (Gary) Olson of Canton; 13 grandchildren: Dennis, Sara, Erika, Christine, Erin, Liz, Whitney, Dexter, Hilary, Addy, Jack, Josephine, and Joe; nine great-grandchildren: Gregory, Finn, Ashton, Nile, Annika, Scarlet, Ryder, Nadia, and Nora; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.
A graveside service will be held at a later date. The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel is assisting with arrangements.
