Robert “Bob” Polikowsky passed away peacefully June 4, 2018, after a brief stay at the Chosen Valley Care Center.
Bob was born January 3, 1934, to Ervin and Nellie Polikowsky and grew up on the family farm while attending school in Elgin, Minn. On October 3, 1953, Bob married Beverly Narveson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin. Bob and Bev farmed in the Elgin area until 1963 when they moved to Chatfield and raised their four daughters.
Bob was an avid Minnesota sports fan, and was a longtime season ticket holder for the Minnesota Vikings. But his favorite past time was watching his grandchildren play sports and he rarely missed a game.
Bob was employed with IBM for 27 years, retiring in 1992. Bob and Bev were longtime members of the Chatfield Golf Course. After retirement they managed the course for two years and then Bob spent several years on the mower manicuring the course fairways.
He was active in the community by serving 21 years on the Chatfield Fire Department and was an active member of the Chatfield Lutheran Church.
Bob is Survived by his wife Beverly, daughters Bonnie (Bill) McMillin, Cheryl (Chuck) Meyer, Patti (Jay) Obey, and Tammy (Allan) Neis; nine grandchildren: Jeremy McMillin, Amanda Meyer, Ben (Michelle) Meyer; Heidi Meyer, Nic (Morgan) Obey, Mitch Obey, Nathan (Becky) Neis, Bryan (Brittni) Neis, and Jake Neis; three great-granddaughters: Anabelle, Lillyana, and Quinn; and brother-in-law Neil Bohach.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, brother Junior; and sister Betty Bohach.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, June 9 at the Chatfield Lutheran Church in Chatfield. Visitation will be two hours before the service at the church.
A committal service with honors accorded by Chatfield Fire Department will follow at Chatfield Cemetery.
